One of One Piece’s best film. Great animation, good story, and a great ending to the character know as Z. The English dub is of top quality as well. This film has the influences of the original creator Eiichiro Oda with the story and the new character introduced in the film. Great design and all. I would recommend to get the Blu-ray for top quality of the color, animation, and great clean visuals. If you area One Piece fan you will want this in you collection.

I am a huge one piece fan and to summarize my thoughts, I loved it! The setting, the characters, the music, the visuals, it was an amazing film to watch! I love the ex-admiral Z. He was the most interesting villain comparing to Gold or Strong World. My only gripe is the final battle between Luffy and Z, because it felt anti-climatic like I was hoping for a grander fight. Overall, it is still a fun one piece film for any fan.

L’undicesimo film di One Piece, se si escludono quel crossover di m**** tra One Piece e Toriko e quel film in 3D, è, insieme a Strong World, uno dei migliori film di animazione giapponese su One Piece. La storia narra di un ex ammiraglio della marina di nome Zephyr, che con sua ciurma di pirati di nome Neo Marina, attacca un postazione della marina per rubare un composto chimico con il fine di distruggere il “Nuovo Mondo” e insieme ad esso tutti i pirati di tutti i mari, che ogni anni solcano i mari per andare in quel mondo e trovare il tesoro di Gold Roger, il Re dei Pirati, così come la ciurma di Rubber Cappello di Paglia. Quando era ancora ammiraglio, Zephyr era un uomo molto devoto alla Marina e credeva fermamente nei suoi ideali ed era il maestro di molti ufficiali della marina, come Aokiji, Kizaru, Hina, Smoker, ma dopo una serie di macabre disavventure, abbandonò la marina e giurò sulla propria vita di eliminare tutti i pirati di questo mondo, anche usando mezzi da terrorista. Ve lo consiglio. L’edizione è ottima.

One Piece: Film Z is one of, if not THE, best One Piece films. I would recommend this film and the Strong World movie to any fan of the manga or anime. If you haven’t ventured into the world of Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece, however, this film shouldn’t be the place to start.
A brief, general summary of the movie is as follows: The Strawhat pirates happen upon a man floating unconscious in the ocean. They rescue and treat him only to discover that he is Z, an ex-marine on a mission to destroy all pirates. Luffy and the Strawhats fight against Z and his crew to reclaim Luffy’s treasure and, in the process, halt a plan that could end the New World.
Film Z’s plot is simple, but since it is encompassed by the overall world building of Oda’s creation, it has a life bigger than its 120+ minutes. Z, himself, is a newly introduced character, but it feels as though he has been involved in the world the entire time. The movie follows a nice pace, balancing humor with action, and the conclusion is built up and executed really well. This is a movie I watched more than once and enjoyed it each time.
The blu-ray version looks amazing during the sections where the budget was a bit more relaxed; in early sections, however, you can tell that it was restricted. Cells of characters from far away are fuzzy and low quality, which the blu-ray’s clarity accentuates even more. halfway through, you’ll notice these instances lessening, and the final scenes have little, if any, poor quality animation.

I’m going to preface by saying this movie is noncanon however, it has some canon elements not shown in the manga and anime. It is a great watch for One Piece fans. The animation is amazing and the pacing is a bit slow in the beginning. As a One Piece fan, you should check it out.

Another great dub from Funimation. I didn’t think they’d dub this so soon but I’m very glad they did. Z was an awesome character, the story was surprisingly well done for a One Piece film and every character gets the limelight in this. A minor nitpick would be some of the supporting characters weren’t given enough time and just seemed to be sticky tacked to the film only to be overshadowed by the Z character himself yet they don’t play much of a role in the film so I’ll give them a pass. Also am surprised about the chilling sailor song’s english version and I was amazed by how good it sounded in English so really pick this up if you’re a One Piece fan. Non fans can get a kick out of the awesome action, funny jokes (with the only exception being that Sanji pedo joke) and some great animation to boot!
