I’ve never touched a stringed instrument in my 32 years (let alone any other instrument). I saw the lyre harp on tiktok and decided to become a bard (just kidding). I’ve only had it for one day but I’m having a lot of fun learning. I used the free app “insTuner” to tune the harp, which made it a lot easier. I did some research and it’s common for string instruments to need re-tuning twice in a sitting when you first tune it, and again after a few days after the strings have “stretched.” Ideally, from what I researched, a stringed instrument needs to be tuned before every session. My harp is a little out of tune in this video, since I haven’t re-tuned it yet. There’s a lot of beginner songs to learn on YouTube for the lyre harp as well, but I’ve been having a blast making my own songs.
If you have an inner bard or a fan of fantasy music, this is a must buy! The carvings and Greek style is a really nice touch 👍🏻

I bought this to hang on the wall with other instruments. It is perfect. And so beautiful!

My daughter’s school made every student buy one of these. My daughter likes the instrument, but she complains that the teacher could not get them all tuned to sound the same. ( I’m not a musician so take that for what it’s worth.) Made for an extra interesting student concert!

Really nice instrument, sounds good, is easy to tune, and the bag makes it very portable, but the craftsmanship is kind of mediocre in places. Most of the strings are spaced unevenly and are at different heights and the finish is rough in places. Overall, those barely change how playable this is, and I’d recommend it as an easy to learn starter instrument.

A beautiful musical instrument that has beautiful sound. I wrote an earlier review, I am correcting my error on the strings, on my first review, if you see it, forget that. I am a harpist and the string set-up when held in the left hand, confused me. This can be held and played in either hand. I would recommend this Lyre 16 string, with constant tuning, it is gorgeous.

This is my first harp, but I have experience with other instruments – especially stringed instruments. It sounds amazing. Very sharp, full tones. The only thing that really worried me was tuning it the first time. Some of the tuning bolts were stripping the wood a bit and I was worried the bolts would just rip out under too much tension. Not a problem at all, just some barely noticeable cosmetic defects from manufacturing. Last thing about tuning: it’s a wooden instrument, so it does take time before it holds a tuning. Something to help with a beginner’s first tune (it will take 20-30 mins), when it arrives just unzip the case and leave it to adjust to your house’s ambient temperature for about 15-60 mins if you can wait that long. It will give the wood a chance to settle quite a bit, preventing more detuning than you will ever know. If you have a guitar tuner (Snarks are still the bomb), or even a piano nearby, that will make tuning easier. After the first time I tuned it, I only have to tune it once before a session, which is desirable. It’s tuned to C Major, which just makes randomly plucking the strings pretty fun on its own. It does come with a book of beginner songs and they’re fun to go through too. The strings are tied unevenly, but it’s really not a big deal. I barely notice it, I’ll just wait til it’s time to change strings before correcting it. It’s a budget Lyre, but it’s a rather good one. I love it so far.

From my 11 year old:
I have really enjoyed using it. It does need to be tuned a few times before you can play it, and you have to be careful so you don’t break the strings, but I didn’t have any trouble. It is easy to play and comfortable to hold. I would definitely recommend it for beginners in music. I wouldn’t recommend getting a lyre with more strings if you are just beginning. It was worth the price and I am glad I got it.

I like everything that comes with this Lyre. The travelling bag, picks, and extra string are nice. You’ll have to use the tuning wrench when you first get this obviously since the strings are very loose. You’ll have to learn to tune it on youtube like I did which isn’t bad. I’m a visual learner and there are free tuning apps to help you do this as well. The little booklet with music is hard to read for me personally. I’m learning songs from a youtuber and i’ve been getting the hang of playing the lyre pretty well. From a complete novice perspective I would recommend this.
