It is fun to play. There are a variety of sounds. I never could get the sound of a regular saxophone but with this I can sound wonderfully. I love this horn.

I played sax in high school, but not since. I bought this at age 78. I found out that, while I could still remember the fingering without effort, I had completely forgotten how to read music. I play about an hour a day and love it! Music is once again part of my life. The sound quality is poor when played alone, but I plug it into my computer speakers and get great sound. There’s lots of free backing tracks on YouTube, as well as inexpensive services that are even better. So glad I bought this.

Stay away. Do not waste your money here. The product material is very cheap. It stopped working only after about 3 month. The service number is totally a fake service line because nobody picks up the call what so ever option you choose. The support website is very confusing, it takes a detective to find how to message them for a return and repair. I still have not made it yet. So, basically they make it extremely difficult to claim after sale services. You just need to throw it away when it breaks. Horrible service and business

Great controller…. Used the Sax fingering and flute fingering. I’m not a sax player but a musician. I learned the basic major scales for the songs i needed and the solos naturally came out of the scale. If you want, you can transpose all song to the simplest fingering key and work that way. So flexible on figuring and the sounds are outstanding. The sax sounds are as good as any, but always the real thing is so much better. but for travel, ease of learning, and multiple sounds (synth, natural, other orchestral instruments) there is nothing better. I had an earilier yamaha version…. didn’t use it cause of the lack of sounds and easy access. They solved this with the onboard speakers…. yes, they are cheap (and don’t use live), but it enables you to pick up the instruments at any time and just play, practice, learn scales. I pick it up 5 times a day because it’s there, easy, and ready to use. I might actually pick up a sax…. Oh yea, you should note that a trained embouchure (mouth) to play this instruments. The reed is simple and any breath on the reed will pick up air. So, my 5 year old does play. Thus, once you learn the fingering, you are set and ready to go. After two weeks i’m play the solos in my cover band. I’m also using this to play some of the synth solos as well. I’m still looking for a killer lead guitar patch. More to follow. Also, as a keyboardist, this is the ultimate breath controller (again, once you learn the fingering, but again, you can learn the simplest fingering and transpose … think like a guitar capo……

I love this thing. Have had it for 2 weeks and can’t put it down. I’m just a living-room musician who’s toyed with a lot of instruments over the years and never got very far with any of them. With this, I can play and read music at the same time by connecting my phone to a 24 inch monitor and watching sheet music backing tracks on YouTube, with the AE 20 hooked up to a mini amp and headphones. I’m finally learning to sight read! I use a Geek Pro silicone mouthpiece and turn the bite sensor off and set the breath response to light and it’s very easy and comfortable to play. So far, I’ve had no problems with the instrument. Also have an Aerophone Mini which I love and played for 2 months, but I wanted more on board tones and wanted to learn sax fingering so I bought the AE 20. Was hesitant because of the negative reviews, but took a chance and so far I love it.
Update after 6 weeks: still loving the ae20. No problems with it at all.

The electronic saxophone has a nice sound quality but tends to falsify tones and shut down during play.
I did not get a response from customer support and had to return the unit.

Nice upgrade with more refined features, more built-in sounds and better feel over the AE-10. The AE-10 did have a much better form fitted case. I wish Roland would have provided a similar case for the AE-10. Note: I bought this unit on discount as used-excellent from Amazon. It was missing a couple of small accessory parts ( drip cup and large thumb hook cover) which I was able to order from Roland.

Brand new and out of the box, it did not properly work. When playing an ascending C scale with sax fingering selected, when releasing the middle key in the lower bank of three, the tone is supposed to change from E to F. It would not change, and stayed on E. Others have had sticky key problems with this instrument as well. Too bad, because in many ways this is a fine and wonderful instrument.
My thanks to Amazon for allowing me to return the instrument for a full refund. That is good customer service. I am not sure whether I will reorder the same instrument, or go with a different one. Time to do some more research. Just be aware of this possible problem.
