I was a bit surprised about the form factor, long and narrow vs my previous projector which was wider.
Was able to make it work with my exiting setup without having to mount on ceiling. Zoom can be just reduced enough to fit picture to my 120“ fixed screen from 18feet out. This is the 2nd version of the projector and the first one seemed to have color issues. Couldn‘t get the blueish tint out of the whites. This one is perfect and now watching UHD contents and even streaming regular shows is really impressive. Big step up from my Epson 5040UB which finally broke down for good after 7 years of good use. Using this in a dedicated theater room not completely blacked out but with good light control. I don‘t love the remote control keep accidentally starting apps also it is not available on harmony hub and needs manual setup.

We replaced an earlier model Sony native 4k projector with this new LG. We were tired of waiting for the bulb to warm up on the Sony. The brightness was always lacking and recently the colors were starting to look washed out.

We could not be more happy with the LG. Almost instant on and the depth of color and brightness is much better. The projector is super quiet and does not seem to run too hot. It was easy to setup. While we have manual controls instead of the powered focus and lens shift of the Sony, you only adjust those one time so it was not a feature we will miss.

We had the prior model LG 810 to try last year but returned it do to laser sparkle and audio sync issues but this newer model 710 has a different color engine so there is no issue. It looks close to our LG OLED TVs!

    Highly recommended model from LG.

Much brighter than my old Sony 4K projector and turns on much faster. Blacks are not great but you forget about it when you can actually see HDR content because of the excellent brightness. Colors are fantastic. Always use in Low Latency Mode to avoid delayed lip sync and to avoid lag with games.

This projector was amazing from day 1! We wanted to upgrade our previous HD projector to a true UHD experience. So first we bought the Samsung Laser 120″ UST UHD projector. The first one came DOA, but the second one just wasn’t as great as the $4000 it costs. So we decided to try another highly-rated projector, the Optoma. This one, though the reviews say differently, was quite the letdown. I left a review for that item. So after going through these other projectors, I bought the LG CineBeam.
The LG not only has a greater throw distance than, but it is crystal clear. I have had several other LG products and they have always turned out great. I am so happy with this purchase.

This is a really nice projector for anywhere with any ambient light. It is instant on and super bright which is great for a living room or basement that is not light controlled. I do not recommend it for “bat cave” darkened theaters because the black floor is not the best on it. This is due to the .49″ dlp chip that is used in it. It just can’t get the native contrast and black floor as other types of projector technology. For example, my 15 year old bulb LCD projector still has better black levels than this Laser/led one.

Colors and HDR are pretty fantastic on this though. I did notice that there was quite a green push when I was calibrating to rec709. When I was taking the green push out I was getting some “rainbow” color push around the perimeter of the image because I had to bias red so much. The lens shift is also kind of sloppy, so I also do not recommend this for people that are changing from cinescope to widescreen. Defiantly a set the aspect ratio and leave it alone projector. There is a lot of lens shift which is quite nice, so you can avoid using the keystone correction

Overall for a non-dedicated theater I would buy this and love it. For a dedicated home theater, I would recommend spending the money on a different option (like I am going to)

I was excited to receive the LG710 projector as an upgrade to my 12 year old Optoma DLP projector. Right out of the box, the interface was amazing with a full blown smart TV experience made easy through the Magic Remote. Watching my first videos, it was shocking how sharp the picture was compared to my previous 1080p projector. However, there were two key issues that made me return the projector.

Issue #1: Red/green/blue stripes (aka rainbow effect)

In high contrast scenes, wherever there were white patches, such as a light in an otherwise dark space, I could not help but notice distinct vertical bands of red, green, and blue stripes out of the corner of my eye. I’ve seen this on other DLP projectors before, but did not expect it on this projector due to its lack of color wheel.

    Issue #2: Audio sync

Try as I might, I could not adequately synchronize the audio and video using either the projector’s or my receiver’s controls. I found that the video was always ahead of the audio. The controls provide only the ability to delay the audio, which made the issue worse rather than better. I also found that the delay varied from app to app.

    Decision:

Ultimately, I decided I couldn’t live with the color stripes or audio delay and returned the projector, purchasing an Epson 5050ub instead. While the 5050ub isn’t technically a 4k projector, its 3 LCD technology avoids the rainbow effect and I cannot perceive any audio lag between the projector and my receiver. I gave up the integrated apps and eARC support the LG offered, but the cessation of rainbow effect, dramatically improved black levels, and correct audio sync more than make up for it to me.

    Is this projector for you?

If you do not notice the flicker of LED Christmas lights, LED tail lights, or if you are not susceptible to the rainbow effect in DLP projectors, or if you don’t notice audio sync issues, this LG unit may suit you just fine. However, if either of these issues detract from your television/movie watching experience, then I suggest you select a different projector.
