I bought this product over a year ago. The purpose was because I wanted to protect my flat screen TV and all electronics attached to the TV in cas there was an outage. I will say that it has held up over the months. It works great and to this very day protects my expensive devices. I have bought other brands in the past from Walmart and Best Buy… and unfortunately those stopped working only after a few months.
    I would recommend!!

I purchased this Surge Protector many months ago and am still using it. It has held up nicely and has done a great job of protecting my stuff during many power surges and storms. It provides 7 outlets, which is just great. I would have liked a little bit more space between each plug since some companies still make those ridiculous power blocks. At the price I paid for this surge protector, I am very happy with it. It is visually appealing as well. You will not regret this item.

As with most surge protectors, they insure X amount of dollars worth of equipment if it is attached to it and dies cause of a surge. You will need to read the instructions on the process if you intend to do so. That usually means keeping the box and lots of documentation.

First of all this is a convenient power strip that works. I cannot test its surge protection ability. I chose this particular brand and design because the distance between the outlets is a little bigger than other power strips, and they’re positioned perpendicularly to the strip’s alignment which makes it much more convenient for all sorts of power supplies that are shaped like a cube or a rectangle. There is one outlet that is positioned further apart for an extra large power supply which is extra convenient.

Worth mentioning is that the button to switch the strip on or off for all outlets is on the top of the strip and is easy to press with the foot. It may or may not be preferable by every user. If you have pets or kids they can easily press this button. Alternatively you can press it with your foot.

My wife was just lazing in bed minding her own business when there was this flashing light and explosion from our outlet. Upon her horrified investigation of the scene, she saw that one of the phone chargers exploded, leaving this huge black mark where it was plugged into the outlet. I think there was a faulty wire pressed against metal and that’s what caused it. Despite the explosion, not only were the other cables perfectly fine with no device damage of any kind, the surge protector still worked.

    Pros: It’s Belkin
    : It’s inexpensive
: It has a long cord
: The indicator light for when it’s time to replace the surge protector
: The power switch that can shut down power to all 7 outlets simultaneously and save you money on electricity.

The Cons: Some devices and appliances might not fit next to each other in adjacent outlets because the regular outlets are spaced a little too close together.

Conclusion: A low cost way to protect inexpensive gadgets from moderate power surges. Can also be used to easily cut power to multiple ‘power vampires’ that drain electricity even when they are turned off. This is great for coffee pots, microwaves, small stereo systems, small/old televisions etc, dvd players etc. For more expensive devices like desktop computers, large flat screen televisions, smart phone chargers etc you will want a costlier surge protector with a much a higher surge rating and is also carefully designed to accommodate larger power plugs that this can’t fit in each spot.

Belkin products are top line on what they are doing and this is not an exception. What I liked most is the one outlet that are a bit further from the others and I needed that as giving space for a rounded smart plug I have (one of the basic reason I bought it), the way they unused plugs are covered and of course the warranty Belkin have for all the products. I got the 12-foot because I needed the long cable but the 6-foot is also cheaper that any “cheap quality” simple power bar selling at the tool multi-stores.

Have a couple of these due to their better than average capacity for surge and they last. Do your homework on this capacity thing…..compare the numbers from different products…..Huge difference in protection level. BUT…congratulations on seeking surge protection at all….Power Companies universally will not give you a dime for their screw-ups that fry your electronics. Although I have not had any known incidents with my incoming power, I have spent the money as an insurance policy to mitigate possible failure.

Good spacing on outlets…gives you a chance for unusual items that you wish to energize. Indicator lights and a power switch fill the bill. This product is not small…look for the dimension numbers. The bigger is a bonus for my needs. And this is just a well built unit.

I had the Belkin SurgeMaster 7-Outlet Surge Protector for several years. I had my laptop, my desk lamp, printer, shredder, cellphone and a coffee machine plugged in it.

About 2 days ago, coffee got spilled over the surgemaster; in fact there was about a half a cup of coffee in he surgemaster as I was able to check later. As soon as I realized what had happened, I turned the device off. And then after about 5 mins I unplugged it from the wall outlet; had to remove the bookcase since the wall plug was behind it). I am happy that nothing was set on fire.

I cannot use my old surgemaster anymore, and that’s why I ordered a new one today. I saw that some customers complain about the design, i.e. that it won’t fit many plugs. If that’s your concern, then you should look for a different device, but if you are concerned with safety, I highly recommend it. Of course, it does not mean that you should be careful, but if you are careful, then the device will work with you! I highly recommend it!

Bought this the same time as an Amazon Basics (this was $17 – price seems to have gone up), since you can only buy one of the AB outlets I got this too.

Next time, I think I’ll buy this Belkin, for a few dollars it gives an extra outlet (7 vs 6) and sliding covers on the outlets so you can close any soles you aren’t using to prevent dust getting in, and it just looks a little nicer quality thought there is nothing wrong with the Amazon Basics build either.
