ORIGINAL: The integrated mount for this makes it impossible to place in all but very specific, very nonstandard configurations. It is absolutely stunning to me that the engineers thought this was somehow a good idea. It’s sitting on a shelf in my workshop now because I can’t come up with a realistic way to use it. Brilliant move, Ring/ Amazon… do better.
UPDATED: Ring called me and actually walked me through this. It was not obvious that there was a second mounting position on the back (covered by a small silicone plug) that would work for my intended application, but they pointed it out, and knowing this I’m now happy with the product. I will say it needs to be more obvious. Perhaps don’t install the mount on the bottom at all so that it’s clear you have alternate options. Anyway, kudos to them reaching out to their customers and addressing their needs, that’s excellent customer service.
UPDATE 2: I cannot set this thing up. The QR code is too tiny for my phone to focus on. The manual registration process doesn’t work. The process fails and fails and fails. This is pure junk. I have had nothing but problems with this device. What should be a 5 minute process has taken me hours and I don’t feel like I’m any closer to getting this thing working. What a horrible experience.
UPDATE 3: FINALLY got this thing to connect. Apparently the setup process is completely different between Stick Up Cam Battery and Stick Up Cam Pro… they look exactly the same on the setup screen. The QR code thing was very annoying… the manual process was confusing. But I think I’m finally set.

I ended up getting the doorbell, the chime, and several of these camera.
When someone rings the bell the doorbell camera starts to record them.
It’s super simple to set up. And it works very well. You can check all the cameras on your phone or computer and even by telling Alexa “show me smart home dashboard”.
When someone moves in front of the camera it starts to record.
You can set off a startling alarm if you want to and then turn it off.
You can speak through each camera and the doorbell.
When you’re at work you can see all around your house.
You do have to pay like $100 / year for subscription, but then it’ll save all your recording for 6 months. You can delete or download the recordings during that 6 months too.
So far, so good. I’ve very pleased.
I shopped around and looked at other camera system, but the user friendliness and the incorporation into Alexa and Amazon devices cinched my decision. And I’m glad I popped on it too.

Ordered the “wired” camera and it works fine. Have the Ring Protect Plus. Rec’d a trial of the SOS feature. Then showed it was deactivated and if wanted I would have to upgrade to the Protect Pro, which I did. That plan, if paid for a year, is $200.00. When I tried to activate the SOS, it was at that time I learned it doesn’t work unless you have their Professional Alarm program at $99.00 p/month making this about $1400.00 p/year. Cheaper to dial 911. I had to call customer service, get them to xl the plan and put me back to the Protect Plus and refund my credit card. In talking with RING, all seemed to dodge around needing the extra program and the information given is not forthcoming that, in fact, you need still the $99.00 p/month in order to have the SOS which the Protect Pro at a cost of $200.00 p/year bumps the overall cost up. I have a wired alarm system, monitored already. Would have been nice to have the SOS function.

Dear Amazon, don’t call it a stick UP camera if you can’t mount it..UP. there is no reason I should have to purchase a separate mounting bracket for this to work. I know it was not impossible for you to add an additional mounting point to the top of the camera. I paid a lot for these Cameras, I shouldn’t have to be sucked into buying another piece. This feels like a cash grab. You can’t tell me no one has tried to mount this to their soffit.

I like these cameras. I can easily move to different locations if needed. I have them sitting inside window sills, the only drawback is the glare off my window, but since I have two, the other camera covers the area that gets the glare til the sun goes down. Excellent picture quality. And just because I want continual coverage, I purchased the bundle with the charger and 2 extra batteries.

The camera was a little confusing on how to hang on ceiling. Had to actually look at a video to get it up right. Aerial view is not as clear as the other ring cams I have installed
