Once this little baby was set up and I learned how to use it. . . .it is marvelous! It meets all my scanning needs and desires. I wanted the scanner hooked to my computer. The ES-580W set up/connected very quickly and easy. But I did not know it! The scanning starts from the computer not the scanner. I called Customer Service, they were very fast to respond and extremely helpful and patient. I confused the touch screen with the computer screen, basically doing the “right moves” but backwards. As with most guides, it was online and hard for me to follow even with the quick links. Thanks to Epson support I am a very fast learned and still exploring features. Truly appreciate the fact that I can name and place the new file after scanning. Overall I have had a very quick learning experience. If you are a previous scan user, no biggie!

I’ve been using this scanner for almost a year, not daily but once is two to three weeks. the scanner is quick and reliable, it has no problem with network connectivity so far. the software has regular updates. the scan quality is good but can be better. with the default setting the scanned document shows the fold marks on the paper. However, in the preview mode under the setting those marks are not there! so that preview is different from the preview after the scan (before saving the file – and this is the final document you get). so far I haven’t been able to remove marks without affecting the quality of the scanned document. thus one start off.

J’ai acheté ce produit pour scanner plus de 60,000 feuilles en moins de 3 mois.
Toujours bien répondu, pas de trouble, pas de soucis.
Mon seul regret est de ne pas l’avoir acheté avant.

The software that runs this scanner is the same one that runs Epson’s receipt scanner. You have to scan one set of pages at a time and you MUST have a computer monitor in front of you. Each scan goes to the software, you cannot split the scanned pages so you must scan, view and save; scan, view and save; scan view and save. It is a cumbersome process. I purchase this because of the website description that implied that you can scan in batches or bulk but you cannot scan in batches or bulk.

💯recommend. Very easy to setup scanning into Google Drive. Reliable and rarely gets jammed or feeds more than 1 page at a time.

I bought this scanner after seeing an advert for tax time. I have to say that I am extremely happy with the product. I bought the companion software to scan and file my receipts.
I used to use a flatbed scanner to archive my receipts. With this scanner I now scan and file my receipts in one tenth of the time.
I have also used the scanner to scan some of my old handwritten notes to reduce the office clutter. Once again the scanner processed two sided notes in a fraction of the time it would have taken an older flat bed.
This device resides next to my computer and is used almost daily.

    É a pequenininha braba!

I’ve been working as a mobile Notary doing loan signings for the last 9 months. Almost all of these need to be scanned and sent back to the title company within a couple of hours of the signing before shipping the hard copies back via FedEx or UPS. I tested my Canon all-in-one by scanning a 46 page signing (had to do it in 2 batches because the feed on the Canon is only 25 pages). It took 14 minutes. I scanned the exact same document with this scanner and it took slightly more than 1 minute. Man, what a time-saver!!! I also use it in my truck with a 150 watt inverter and it works perfectly, so I can now scan docs on the road, which is really a game changer for me. I absolutely LOVE this scanner!!! I can scan a document with mixed page sizes (which I CAN’T do with the Canon) without any problems at all.

    PROS:
    – Flexible reliable document scanner. Can scan-to-network drive and make use of presets directly on the scanner without having to install special software or drivers on any computers or tablets in the house.
Software/drivers were supplied, but they’re not needed to operate this unit.
    – Reliable sheet feeding; paper jams that do occur are usually limited to a missed staple or cut-outs on the the paper, or setting safety settings to high/conservative.
    – Successfully scanned >25,000 pages of material within the past 6 weeks and it’s very reliable for both one-off scans and near continuous scanning over several hours at a time.
    – Can access settings via HTTPS page on local LAN.
    – Auto skipping of blank pages and auto-correction of paper skew are fantastic!
    – Scanner is easy to access and clean – the moving parts pop-out and pop-in intuitively.
    – Picture quality is limited (see CON below); however, configurable cropping and shadow delete are nice features to have when bulk-scanning hundreds of old physical photos. Color tones and contrast appear good compared to trial-and-error flatbed scanner, and dust on pics isn’t as noticeable.
    – Nice options for image compression.
    – Nice small footprint on desk (when trays are retracted).
    – Handles very large documents (>100 pages)….simply by feeding the paper into the scanner in batches.
    – Accepts paper of differing sizes within the same scan into a single PDF (eg: scanning receipts).

    CONS:
    – Picture resolution could be improved particularly on photos (product is limited to max 600 dpi). 1200 DPI would be nice.
    – Would be nice to set a timer for confirming/committing the last page of a scan. At present, pressing a button to confirm last page is required. An optional 5-second countdown timer would be useful.
    – Additional image format outputs would be useful (eg: GIF, BMP, etc).

All told, a small but reliable scanner that’s great for document scanning.
