My husband and I moved to a different state and gifted our super comfortable king sized tempur-pedic to his mom because we couldn’t deal with the hassle of moving it. Instead we bought a new mattress. While testing it out at the store, I thought at the time that I would like a firm mattress. However, my sleep started suffering for 4 months straight after that, and I started getting back and neck pain. I wasn’t going to buy another mattress so my husband suggested a mattress topper. I literally never heard of a mattress topper before this and was very doubtful. When it arrived, it said that it could take up to 48 hours for it to completely expand, but I didn’t have the patience to wait so I tried it that very night. It was a gamechanger! I have been sleeping like a baby since i got this topper. I will buy over and over again!

For the physically impaired such as myself, it provides enough hip support to not wake up in pain. My partner has been accepting his creaky spring mattress and didn’t even realize toppers were a thing. He doesn’t wake up sore and grumpy anymore. Best $40 I ever spent.

Update: 7/20/24
Finally got around to ordering the “new” version. It’s not even memory foam. You push down on it and it literally INSTANTLY pops right back up. I laid on it for about two minutes and the same thing… It has no “memory” because it never conforms in the first place, and HOT is an understatement. I have chronic pain issues, so it’s extra important what I sleep on, and there’s no way I could sleep on this thing. It’s a sad day for me, because these were the only toppers that I used for years. They used to be so good, but once again, someone’s gone and ruined a good thing. Lord knows I gave them every chance I could. So now I don’t recommend the new version (unless you’re looking for a topper that doesn’t conform), OR the old version. Regarding the old version, between my own recent experience (see below) and many other people’s recent reviews of that version, it appears to me that the stock that they have left has somehow gone bad. Maybe they were left for for too long in a hot warehouse? Idk, because they’re clearly still the same toppers that I have loved all these years, but they’re damaged/messed up.
Old version, last purchased in March 2024:
I’ve been buying these toppers for years. They are quite different from other toppers, in all the best ways. I’ve always raved about them. I don’t even know how to explain their texture, but it’s just different from the other memory foam toppers out there. I recently decided to buy another one for our spare bedroom, but unfortunately, when I took it out of the box it had this huge lump/crease in the middle never went away. Also, 2 of the corners and near the edge of one side was permanently flat and hard like a rock. Silly me never opened it to realize all of this until after the return window had closed, so I’m not very happy about that. That being said, I had never had any issues with them in the past, so I decided to order another one, thinking that the bad one I received was probably just a fluke. Well I have now received it, and it was NOT a fluke. It has the exact same huge crease/lump in the middle, and is permanently flat and hard in other areas. Also, when you lay on it, underneath instantly flattens completely down and gets rock hard, and it doesn’t retain its original shape for a ridiculously, not at all normal, amount of time. I’m returning it and I’m going to try the new version. When I do I will update this review. I really hope the new one still has the same feel as the old ones (when they’re not damaged), because I don’t know what I will do if I can no longer get these toppers.

I don’t often review products unless they’re books. If I do, it’s because I’m either really happy with them or really unhappy. Luckily, this time it’s the first one. It may in fact be the best thing I’ve purchased in the past year.
Here’s how it is. I have an old mattress, spring type, with spots where the springiness isn’t as strong and so finding a comfortable sleeping position could be a bit of a trial. I probably should just get a whole new mattress, but I’m cheap, and worried about satisfaction… if I’m going to drop a lot of money on a mattress, I want to be sure I’ll like it, and I’ve never really slept on a memory foam long term, and some research suggested that memory foam sometimes had a problem with smelling weird or being too hot–although gel-filled ones like these aren’t supposed to be as bad–and what if I get one and get rid of my old mattress and wind up not liking it. Yadda yadda yadda, I was dithering for a long time. Then I decided to take a lesser risk and try a mattress pad, figuring it’d let me try out and see how that heat problem might be… if it turned out to be intolerable, I only spent a little money to find out, and in the meantime, it might help me sleep a little more comfortably.
Boy did it help. The pad isn’t super thick (the 2-inches is from bottom to the textured foam peaks I think, so at its thinnest points it’s probably half that), but it’s good enough to do the job for me and smooth out all the uncomfortable spots in my own mattress. I’ve had it for a little under a month now, and from the first day I put it on, I’ve slept loads more comfortably, and rarely wake up in pain like I used to, and am in generally a better mood. I guess I didn’t realize just how uncomfortable it was with that old mattress, gotten used to suffering. Like having an egomaniacal sociopath reality TV star as US President, once you don’t have to deal with it everyday, even if there are still tons of problems in the world, everything just looks better all around.
My nose isn’t particularly sensitive, but I noticed no particular smell (unpleasant or otherwise) and used it the evening I received it (after letting it bounce back from the tight packing for a few hours). No problems with it becoming uncomfortably hot, either, so I guess the gel did its job, although granted I haven’t tried it out in the thick of summer yet. If it does become a problem, I’ll update. Similarly if it somehow wears out quickly. A month’s not a long time to judge a mattress by. But I’m giving it five stars anyway because right now I’m so pleased I bought it.
If I have any complaint it’s that it tends to, over a few days, slide off-center from the mattress (even when both are covered by a fitted sheet), but I’m not sure that’s a problem a pad like this is responsible for solving, and it’s easy enough to pull it back when noticed. If having to do that regularly is the price I pay for such good sleep, I’ll happily pay it.

I bought it to put over my air mattress so my cats don’t pop it. It’s comfortable and so far has held up well. It’s true to a size and fits very well. It does smell, like a strong plastic smell. I had to air it out for a couple of days before I slept on it. Drier sheets helped, I put them under the fitted sheet. I took a star off for the smell. It’s cheap, comfortable and works for what I needed.
