This is my first Zumo and it’s everything Garmin describes and more. There has been two updates in less than a week and with each update, it keeps getting easier and more workable. The tread app works great in concert with the Zumo xt 2. I got 3m protective tape for the screen just in case.

The interface is slow, Linking up to the Tread app is difficult when it works. Doesn’t charge reliably off USB when not in the cradle. The link time that it takes to reach satellites is like somewhere between five and 15 minutes to find the satellite, It’s a paperweight until it does
    Waste of money
I recommend you do not buy this

Love the visibility of this Garmin. I use this on my motorcycle and really like it. Sure beats my Garmin Zumo 595.

I finally upgraded my Zumo 660 to the XT2 and I’m very happy I did. The performance is great, the display is beautiful, and the features are all there. I’m struggling a bit to figure out how to create trips in the Tread app, but I’m getting there. A few complaints.

    1. Every time I stop anywhere near a gas station it thinks I fueled up and asks if I want to reset the tank.
    2. Notifications are controlled by type, not app. I get some notifications I couldn’t care less about. I really only want one or two apps to come through.
    3. There’s no audio out, so I can’t connect it to my stereo like my 660 was.

It’s still a great GPS, and I’m happy with the purchase though.

Software has always been Garmin’s Achilles heel as most users of their navigation devices know. I still own 6 of them from the many years of use but I always hated their software both on the device and the Apps (so many…Basecamp, Explore, Earthmate, Smartlink and now Tread.) but Tread and the XT2 actually are well done and easy to use with the functionality we’ve been waiting for going on a decade for me. Well done Garmin. The device is super well made & finished and easy to use with gloves on.

Garmin seems to try hard, steadily improving these things over time – a GOOD thing.

On pavement, I don’t recall the maps being inaccurate (except the speed limits are occasionally incorrect; it would be nice if Garmin provided an easy, straightforward way to submit corrections). Off-pavement, I turn to alternative Android apps (e.g. Gaia or Onx) for greater completeness.

At any rate the units (yes, I have a number of them from over the years) are well-made; mounting hardware is well made and suitably flexible.

I bought the Zumo XT2 based on the bright screen, 6” diagonal view, and great reviews. The setup was easy and I updated the maps and software in just an hour. I used a DEUTSCH connector to connect to my R1200RT hidden circuit tied off to the frame. It worked perfectly and the Ram mount is very flexible in getting the perfect orientation for the best view. This purchase was definitely worth the premium price for the outstanding design, performance, and quality.

Definitely a learning curve. Still trying to figure out all the features coming from the iPhone navigation world, but this thing is great. Used for the MABDR recently and never got lost. Screen is bright even in daylight and screen doesn’t show smudges. Having a fuel alert is also great. Put in your tank mileage and when you’re getting low it will automatically start showing the nearest gas station. Worth every penny!

Overall very nice unit and very capable. Extremely upset that it lost TPMS connectivity with the Garmin TPMS sensors. Motorcycles are sensitive safety-wise for tire pressure so that was a critical advantage to my Zumo 590
