Be ready to adjust and tune your front derailleur or bring your bike to a shop.
In my case I need to adjust bike front derailleur to accommodate the size [same size 175/42-32-22, but the stock is diff brand].In fact, I will not be able to adjust to the smallest gear since my stock derailleur cannot go that low. For now I only use 1 and 2, which works for me since I seldom used the lowest gear. I may need to buy a new front derailleur someday. After tuning, shifting is smooth and worked as expected. On the side note, the construction looks sturdy and the added chain guide is a plus. For the price and functionality, you cannot go wrong.

Great crankset!! Aluminum just like the oem ones I had on my bike before I stripped the pedal threads. The replacement and installation was easy-peasy, though it is VERY helpful to have a crankset puller tool. You can find those on Amazon for around $10 more or less. This crankset comes pre-greased, but it doesnt hurt to add more if you want to. Since I installed them, my bike has been running great as new. No problems what so ever. The only downfall I can think of for this crank set is that it did not come with covers/clips to prevent debris from entering the bottom bracket.

This is a good low cost , high quality crankset . It is easy to install and does the job of giving you a nice gear range. Works as well as cranksets costing 3 times as much. With the price of bike parts being what they are this is a good value.

The inner two gears of my crankset had worn out and the assembly needed replacement. Installation was easy with the most difficult part pulling off the old crankset with a crankset puller as they were on pretty tight after being installed for many years. I noticed this new FC-M311 crankset had an improvement over my previous FC-M311. There is now an outer guard (picture) next to the outer most gear that keep the chain from slipping off and onto the pedal. This is a problem I sometimes had with the previous crankset and I see Shimano made a design change to address that problem.

Used this to replace the crankset of the same size on a 25 year old Specialized mountain bike. The old crankset was rusted and missing several teeth where they had been bashed on logs/rocks. I also really wanted to add a bash guard/chain guard since the old one had nothing and my pants and shoelaces would get caught on the crankset. The old crankset was riveted on so there was no way to add a bash guard.
The old crankset was a b*tch to get off; I used a removal tool but the handle was too small. If I had to do it again, I would have cut off the bottom bracket with a hacksaw/Sawzall instead of messing with removal tools, vices, and hammers. I reused the old pedals since there was nothing wrong with them.
The front derailleur did need adjusting; as is, it crashed in to the guard. I had to raise the derailleur up and then adjust the high and low screws to get the shifting to work properly. If you don’t know how to do this just watch a few YouTube videos.

This replaces the obsolete Shimano MC-08 crankset on my 20 year old Trek 4500. The original 113mm spindle bottom bracket which is not long enough to clear this crankset. You’ll need a bottom bracket that is 10mm longer: BB-UN300 Bottom Bracket – English, 73 x 123mm Spindle. You will also need an Altus compatible derailleur, a SHIMANO FD-M310. Use the appropriate tooling. When replacing the bottom bracket, discard the front derailleur mounting plate. The Altus derailleur clamps to the frame.
