Yakima makes the best and most versatile rack systems for vehicles. Purchase was quick, fair price and speedy delivery. Delivery by Fed was a little lacking. They left it in the driveway. Guess it was a little heavy to put in on the front porch. Good thing I got home before it was stolen. They may need a dolly for heavy deliveries.

So I thought this two tier rack was going to solve my problems for my Class B motorhome. Provide additional external storage capacity and a rack to hold two bikes. In practice I fund the solution to be unusable. The rack with the bikes on the top tier swing back and forth valiantly. I put a strap from the top of the rack to the hitch safety loops, which reduced the swing, but didn’t eliminate. Just a slight dip in the road had the rack bouncing valiantly. I had to keep a constant eye on it since I thought the rack or my hitch might fail at anytime. I was only able to relax once I arrived home again.
When I removed the cover over the bikes I found significant damage. The two bikes have 20″ tires, which the specifications indicate are supported, yet they both front tires went through the rack holder, see photo.
I contact Yakima, they said the bike could be ejected because the wheel mount wasn’t far enough back. The bike went through the rack, it wasn’t ejected. The never address the front to back swing or bouncing issue I raised. For me the rack is unsafe!

Easy to put together. Excellent system for my Jeep Wrangler! Love the built in bike locks. Very sturdy. Highly recommend!

In order to set this up, you need to align the EXO SwingBase arms with the attachments for the DoubleUp. This can take a little bit of wiggling, but once you do that once, you’re set and don’t have to do it again.
Otherwise, this works wonderfully for transporting two bikes. It is easy to get bikes on and lock them in. It seems like the two attachment points wouldn’t be enough to hold the bikes securely, but I did a 5 hour drive with two attached and had no issues. I think, in particular, what gives me peace of mind is that there is a cable lock that you can put through the wheels. So, if for whatever reason, the two attachment points fail, you’ll drag the bike rather than dropping one and causing accidents.
It is easy to get the bikes on and off, each being done in less than 30 seconds. This is definitely more expensive than other options – particularly if you’ve got to get the SwingBase – but if you have that already, it’s a super nice option (you can access the trunk!).
