Use as backup for scuba diving. Well built and holds charge. Bright. Have had it to depths over 100 feet deep with no issues. As good as lights costing $140.00.

I had decent hopes for this light. But within the first few minutes those hopes quickly faded. It started when I attached it to my weight belt with a key ring and rope through the backend hole. I put the belt around my waist for fitment. As I adjusted the belt I watched the white rubber ring that goes around the on/off button bounce off into the white pea rock in my yard to be lost for good. I looked for it in vein. But thought to myself that if it came off that easy. It might have been a shipping holder or something. Because there’s no way a critical piece of this light would come off that easy.

Very first breath-hold dive with it.

As I dropped down about 25 feet on my first freedive of the day I tried to look into some ledges , just to check the brightness. It wouldn’t turn on at all. At this time I noticed small bubbles pushing out of the area where the white rubber ring had fallen off. I was not happy. As I headed to the surface bubbles continued to push out of the on/off button area. Then the light actually turned on! But only for a moment. Then off again. I looked into the lens and to my dismay I could see a slight amount of water inside the lens. I dove again and noticed the light had turned on by itself and now I couldn’t turn it off. It’s not safe to have a bright reflective object next to your crotch when diving in the ocean. Knowing this light was officially toast after my second dive I headed for the boat to get my smaller backup light that I luckily brought with me.

That was two days ago. I just opened it at home to take a look. The inside of the light is completely rusted and oxidized as the battery leaked and destroyed everything.

I won’t even ask for a replacement or my money back. I don’t even care for the $50 or so it cost. Just trying to make note to others before they make the same mistake.

I bought 2 but have not done a night dive yet. In the pool 5000 lumens is a good brightness, probably the minimum you should buy. I like to use a light on day dives to look into crevasses and under ledges. It is well built and has 3 o-rings, most others have 2 and this comes with 3 spare o-rings. I like the on / off button as it is not likely to turn on accidentally (compared to a slide or turn switch). The center of the light beam is a little “hot” but totally expected for a 1x LED bulb, so you can’t use this for video. I tried two 3000 lumen Orchatorchs, but not bright enough and locking safety switch would only unlock by opening the case and removing the battery (on both lights). Aplos 15000 lumen was about two to three as bright as the 3000 L Orca’s, but very heavy and 4x the cost. (It takes 2 to 3 times the lumens to visibly appear twice as bright…google up lumens and brightness). Windfire is a good value for the money, and lightweight enough to be a good travel light…buy 2 to have a backup.

I don’t think I get five hours as they stated but the light is bright, so overall good deal.

    Pros:
Compact, rugged, decent recharge time, solid aluminum housing. A good bright flashlight for use in wet environments above the waterline.
    Cons:
Not very bright. Illumination range under 12 inches when looking into nooks and crannies in reef and rock structures in daylight. Not adequate for night diving.
