Mountaineer –
Gets a little slippery with sweat or moisture, but it is a sturdy clean yoga mat as advertised. I like it and use it every week for my yoga sessions. I bought another one.
Amazon Customer –
This mat has great cushion and is excellent for the knees. I have had this mat for about 2 months and used it 3-4 times per week during that time. I sweat quite a bit though, and this mat gets really slippery when I sweat. It’t like a slip and slide when I hop back from forward fold to plank and when I’m in an eka pada downward dog. It’s kind of scary actually. I feel really disappointed actually and I’ve heard that wearing the mat in would make this problem go away, but it really hasn’t improved over time so far. I wish that I had gone with the manduka black mat that so many of my classmates have and rave about.
Update: I have tried several options that my teachers recommended to make the mat less slippery. I have tried lemon juice, laying it out in the sun, a salt scrub, and sandpaper. None of these solutions work. If anything the mat is more slippery now. So I contacted customer service and they told me that all of these things are recommended for the Manduka Pro mat but NOT for the eKo mat. They recommended a 50/50 spray of apple cider vinegar and water. I guess I’ll try it as I really have no other choice, but I doubt it works. And due to how much I hate this mat and the completely unhelpful response of the customer service representative, I will probably NEVER buy ANYTHING made by Manduka again, bc I don’t appreciate being swindled out of $80.
Update 2: I have been emailing the customer service person at manduka for the past 2 weeks and it just gets worse and worse. I tried the apple cider vinegar and it left a faded spot on my mat. When I informed the customer service person of this he answer was to not really acknowledge the problem, repeat the advice that had already messed my mat up, and then tell me that no discoloring would happen. OK? So clearly I’m a liar despite having sent a picture of the damage. So I finally just told her that I wanted to them to replace the mat bc her advice messed it up. I also left a negative review of the mat on their website, similar to the first entry above, which they didn’t publish. She told me they would be happy to send me a new mat as soon as I sent them my credit card information to pay them $30. I told them that I wasn’t gambling $30 more when I had payed $80 already for this horrible mat. I told them that I was NEVER going to do business with them and that I would tell every yogi I come in contact with about this experience. Today they said that they would send me a new mat, they had some set aside to donate to charity and they’ll send me one of those. So a $15+ billion company is unable to afford to fix their mistake without taking something away from the less fortunate, but they sure were gonna passive aggressively blame that on me bc I’m the person who is so unreasonable I would take a mat away from whatever charity needs yoga mats more than food, medicine, and clothing. I am horrified by this company’s business practices and disgusted by the way I have been treated. I don’t care if they send me $1 million worth of free yoga stuff I will still loathe this company and never buy from them again.

Me encanta porque tiene muy buen agarre, su superficie es antiderrapante. De material muy resistente

This is my first Manduka mat and it definitely lives up to the hype. I looked at a lot, and I mean A LOT, of yoga mats before deciding to invest in this one. It’s a little more expensive but it seems like it’ll last longer than the previous Gaiam mats I’ve had. It has a different feel and texture than what I’m used to but I like it. There’s really great grip and it’s comfortable on the knees. The only complaint I have is that the product photos make it out to look like it’s more of a ‘wildberry’ colour and this is not quite the case. I posted some photos that I edited to match the in-person colour the best I can and I think it’s a pretty close representation. A little disappointed the colour wasn’t quite the same but it’s still nice and overall I’m happy with it so it’s a keeper.

I like it but not for travel, only for home. Its heavy. The smell is really strong at first but a few days hanging outside it was gone. Other than that I like it.

This is my second yoga mat. It’s identical to the one I’ve had and used for 15 years cause it’s so wonderful. The yoga towel over it grips this mat well, the thickness is perfect and it lasts a long time. Just thought I’d treat myself to a new one since my first one had a few frays starting on the edges.

I have many yoga mats from many different companies, from low end to high end. I will say that there is definitely a value to the brand of yoga mat. The mat is strong without being intrusive in your movements. It stays flat and does not pull up with your shifting and flow . I have no problems with slipping. This mat is my favorite and it’s definitely worth the price.
Anon Dude –
It’s just about a week shy of 4 years since I’ve purchased this mat, and it’s survived, a lot more than I expected. It went with me from indoor yoga studios to outdoor boot camp style workouts in public areas on hot concrete. The reason I’m even writing this review is because I’ve been noticing threads coming out of the edges of the mat and today just saw that the edges and bottom show some breakdown and was curious when I had bought it.
4 years of abuse, poor storage (using a sling carrier and not worrying about exposing it to direct sunlight), literally tossing it around (nothing figurative about it) and all I have to show is a little breakdown on edges… plus if I remember right, these mats were made to be biodegradable, which was a selling point for me, so maybe a little disintegration is expected? I can’t say enough about the eKO mat and the company.
BTW, the mat did have an interesting smell to it when I first got it… not that synthetic smell otherwise I probably woulda returned it from the start… it smelled like… maybe cinnamon cookies? Don’t know if that’s changed with the newer ones over the years but to me, workouts on something that smells like dessert… the only way they could’ve improved this was to make it smell like coffee, bacon and a hint of maple syrup… but I’m guessing bacon scented mats wouldn’t be a big selling point for those that use it strictly for yoga LOL.

I have been using this mat for yoga, and it is probably one of the best in the market, doesn’t slip at all, very nice grip.

This is my second Manduka mat. I bought my frist one 15 years ago and while it wasn’t ‘worn out’, it was a bit rough around the edges and my cat had thrown up on it a few times (LOL). So I splurged and bought a new one and I hadn’t realized that over the years I had worn down the texture on the rubber a bit on my first one, and getting this new one and feeling how slip-proof it is, I’m so happy to have upgraded to new one. These are the BEST yoga mats and well worth the cost if you consider you can easily get 15 years of use out of it (and I do yoga multiple times a week).

Good support feels dense and heavy underfoot, sticky so hands and feet don’t slide. Does have a little rubber smell up close but that’s improving daily. Great mat that we have recommended to many people.
