In all honesty, I’ve had this toaster on my wishlist for months. So I was thrilled when my toaster finally stopped functioning. We ordered the toaster in black and it is beautiful! The retro style is on point and the design is compact. The buttons, dials and levers fit the style and function well. Most importantly, the bread comes out evenly toasted and in function to the level requested. We can’t ask for more. I might order a 2nd one in another color. DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS TOASTER, especially since it less expensive than others listed on Amazon. It’s great!

I got this for 2 reasons. 1. my 4 hole toaster went on the fritz and I rarely used all four holes. 2. This design is retro cute and fits with my cuisinart coffee maker. I had a problem with my first order and had to contact customer support – they responded right away with a solution. I got a replacement and it works perfect.

The toaster is made of plastic but feels sturdy enough. We needed a toaster just for bread, so it works perfectly for us. If you’re looking for a toaster that can toast bagels too, then this is probably not the one because the bread slot might be a little too narrow for bagels. Overall, I’m happy with the product for its price and functionality.

Most the time, when something like this is THIS cute, it doesn’t work too well. This is the best purchase I’ve made in a while!
Things I love about it:
– The Look: I always get compliments on my toaster when people come over. It sticks out and even the buttons on it are thought out and the lever is not one you see on other toasters🥹
– The Lever, Buttons & Practicality: It’s simple to use! It has a SNOWFLAKE button which allows you to thaw out anything that needs to defrost first before toasting it, the STOP button which allows you to stop your toast from toasting, and the Lever itself. The lever is such great quality! It pushes the bread or bagel you put in ALL the way down, meaning you have fulllllly toasted with no cut off. (I’ve had issues w my previous toaster not fully toasting the bread all the way. It left a cut off where you could visibly see where it wasn’t toasted. I don’t have that problem at all w this cute toaster 🥰).
– The Quality: Some cheap toasters will do the job for the most part, but once it’s done toasting and the product pops up, you only have a few seconds before the toast goes cold. Not with this toaster though! When it’s done toasting and it pops up, the toast stays hot somehow and is perfect every single time!
I can’t express how happy I am with this purchase 🥹🤍 If you’re thinking of getting it, just get it!

This is a great toaster! Easy to use. Nice, modern design with an easily cleaned finish.
The only “complaint” we have is that the slot could be wider; it is wider than most “standard” tasters, but not truly a wide, bagel size slot.
The manufacturer did not claim that it was a wide slot toaster, so that is on us not them, but we were fooled by the photo where the slot is obviously somewhat wider than a standard model.
We liked this one so much we went right out and but the double long wide slot version from the same manufacturer.
And there is one last thing that is noteworthy in today’s world: The User Manual is well written, organized and in perfect English! You don’t need AI or Google translate to read the manual ~

Our previous Kitchenaid toaster broke so we had to get a new one. I loved the look of the Mueller Retro toaster but was concerned about the larger dimensions compared to the Kitchenaid. I included a picture attempting to show the difference between the two on case that helps someone else. The Mueller is slightly wider but is just a little shorter and tapered so it looks just great and not too big. The slots are the same as the Kitchenaid, sufficiently wide and deep enough for toasting bagels, etc. And I love the retro look and color. We’re still getting used to settings to find the best one for our preferred toast level but so far so good.

Is was finally time to say goodbye to our well-used De’Longhi 4-slice toaster I purchased in the late-’90s. Too many repeated toasting cycles told us to upgrade.
That said, the amount of research and owner reviews I digested in my 2-year search was exhaustive! Such inconsistency, poor quality, feature-deficient, as well as reasonable — and UNreasonable — consumer comments shared delayed our eventual purchase. Here’s why we finally chose the Mueller RetroToast 4-Slice (Pink)…
FUNCTIONALITY
Full Disclosure: There are no kids in our home, so we were not very concerned about abusive treatment of a lighter-weight toaster that had some plastic components.
Having slots that were wide enough for bagels was key. Reviewers who complained that their Mueller toasters’ slots were too narrow were almost all 2-SLICE models. The 4-slice version is quite sufficient for “normal-size” bagels. Also, the adjustable dials do not turn so easily as to be constantly corrected B4 use. And all the heating elements worked very, very well. Also important is the adequate cord length– long enough to pull the toaster out from under a low cabinet for use and protect the underside of your cabinet from burn marks.
STYLING
The 4-slice model is just a little wider than our De’Longhi 4-slice. But because it’s tapered at the top, it’s hard to tell and very stylish. I’m a sucker for “retro”, so this model’s design checked a lot of boxes with a 1960’s vibe, with its smaller push-down buttons and stylish frenched bezels. And its Soft Pink hue offers a slight color compliment to our particular granite counters. And I can see their color choices as a great accent to consumers’ own countertops. I do need to cover a couple shortcomings, and they will be shared at the end of my review.
USER GUIDE
A sometimes overlooked element of these purchases is how helpful are the manuals. In addition to instructing the buyer to properly PRE-heat their new toaster (i.e. “First Use”), Mueller also surprised us with a section that goes the distance by taking the guesswork out of heat levels- what they call “Browning Control” when toasting. Many other brands leave that experimentation up to the consumer – trial & error. This was a nice detail they included. These days, even the little things matter to consumers.
PRICING
If you’ve done your own research, you know how toaster pricing just runs the spectrum. Unfortunately, you see truly disappointing, disgruntled reviews for the high-end brands, as well as the usual teeth-gnashing over how crappy the cheaper models performed. We paid $45 US for our 4-slice Mueller, and I consider that a freakin’ bargain compared to what’s out there and the quality of those other brands.
A U.S. COMPANY
While I have no illusions as to where their product(s) are actually made, Mueller is still a U.S.-owned company, and the toaster comes with a 100% Satisfaction Guarantee. Plus, they make it known that they donate a portion of our purchase dollars to a .org that supports troubled youth here in the U.S.. Now, I’m no “bleeding heart”, but that kind of “giving back” is nice to see.
CONS
Now comes the “misses” for this product, but there are only a couple for this 4-slice model:
> If both heaters are on at a high browning level, be aware that the sides of this toaster get hot! If only 1 side is being used, it’s not much of an issue, but both on a high setting would have benefitted by a little thicker toaster body.
> The crumb trays are quite shallow. Since they’re discreetly located in the rear, it would’ve been smarter to make them a little deeper, so they won’t need emptying so frequently, and still not had a negative impact on this toaster’s overall design.
