This rice cooker is amazing. I typically use it to make plain rice, but last week I made Mexican rice in it. It was amazing. I’ve also steamed broccoli, which turned out really good as well. It’s very easy to clean and matches the aesthetic that I was looking for. Rice cooks fairly quickly. It’s a decent size cooker. Quick, easy, perfect rice. Easy to pull out the inner sleeve, and put a small plate on the top to keep leftover rice, or vegetables in the refrigerator. Inner top is easy to remove for cleaning.

What I love about this is the auto-cook functionality for Rice. It knows when to stop so if you put in too much water it will cook the rice until near-perfect. It does seem to dry out the very bottom where it makes heat contact and I wonder if pop its open mid-cook I could give the rice a stir to prevent this. One thing it does is make wiggly circles on the display rather than tell you “3 mins left to cook”. I do understand it is constantly figuring out the “perfect rice” so it is understandable. I LOVE the 2 touch, ON, RICE, or even ON, EGGS and away it goes. Powerful, very good quality, compact just PERFECT!

My old rice cooker went bad, need a replacement. I was looking for very simple rice cooker, no need for any fancy features. Just cook rice, brown rice in particular because that’s what I eat. I selected this Hamilton Beach 8 cups rice cooker because I have good overall impression of Hamilton Beach as a brand. Had an HB juicer and it lasted forever.
The package was well organized and protected. Came with some accessories neatly packed, but all I really needed was the measuring cup. The coating on the nonstick pot seems rather thin, and the pot doesn’t feel as sturdy as ones seem in higher end rice cooker. Also, the power cord is extremely short, measured at only about 25 inches. That kind of limits where you can place it on the countertop, unless you have an extension cord.
Cooking process was nice and simple, I basically rinse the rice, add water, place the pot in the cooker, press “Whole Grain” cooking option, and that is it!
This simple rice cooker does its main job very well, I am satisfied with the result.
It is very well-priced for a simple rice cooker. My expectation is to enjoy trouble-free rice cooking for the next 3~4 years. If this thing breaks within 1 year (or even shorter), you will see me come back to update the review.

I really like the versatility and ease of operation with this product. I have used it to cook steel cut oats. Hot Cereal cook time was about 30 minutes. I have also used it as a slow cooker. I am a single person and love one pot/slow cook meals. So far I have slow cooked two dishes. I call one Green Salsa Chicken. Slow cook time was 6H/30M. I call the other dish Kinda Italian. Slow cook time 6H. I prime the pot with a light coat of olive oil for ease of cleaning the pot. The two dishes first layer is veggies and seasoning covered with Alfredo or Marinara sauce. The second layer is poultry or beef. I dress both layers with a drizzle of olive oil. I am excited for the the dishes of the future because of the versatility of this product. Bon Appetite, mes amis.

Once again Amazon is asking for a review long before I really get to experience the product I bought, however I am very impressed with it. It is very compact & takes up very little space in the kitchen & it is so versatile; it is capable of cooking even more variety of meals than I originally thought it capable of doing. I am excited to put it to use!
For one or two people, it is ideal since I don’t ever make more than 2-3 cups of rice at a time. It steams eggs soft, medium or hard boiled, it makes hot cereals like cream of wheat cereal, it steams veggies, meats, chicken & seafood too!
It truly is a mini wonder. 🙂

This Hamilton Beach mutlicooker is a small 1.5 quart size cooker with several preset functions. There are preset time buttons for cooking. The preset values in slow cooker mode are default times that can only be incremented by 30 minutes at a time. The presets cannot be decreased.
I used the cooker’s egg, rice and slow cook functions. The egg function makes perfectly cooked eggs. The rice function made very good fluffy rice (I used only brown rice). I used in low mode for slow the food was still hot when finished.
The only real downside I can think of for this cooker is the lid doesn’t seem too durable. The lid is fastened to the cooker by two plastic clips. Flipping the lid over, it seems like the silicone gasket doesn’t remove without the possibility of having to unscrew tiny screws on the lid (which I did not try). This makes the cooker a bit awkward to clean. The lid is functional but just seems a bit fragile.
In summary, here is what I like and dislike of the cooker:

– entire lid comes off, thus can be soaked in dish soap to wash

– lid doesn’t look durable
– can’t set precise slow cooking times (can only use preprogrammed times and from there, 30 minute increments)
