Just received and looks sturdy. Have had a few that broke quick so hope this one dies much better.

For reference I have this and the 1900s. I picked this up cause I wanted a smaller unit for my dog. The 1900s was fine, but she’s at the lower range of the size and I wanted something more compact. I picked the 280x over the 280c for the light, which will be nice if you’re in the woods at night.

My ONLY gripe with the 280x is that you can only choose nick OR constant, whereas on the 1900s, there was a separate button for each. I think they each have their own uses and should have their own button. In my opinion both a vibrate (which is already noisy) and a beep is overkill and that a nick and constant option is much more useful. I suppose you could set it to nick on on dog number 2 or 3 and flip the switch back and forth, but I much prefer the 2 button layout for each that the 1900s has

I also don’t like the switch to the usb c charging port. I’ve had bad luck with those in the past and much preferred the charger on the 1900s but that’s neither here nor there. Just worth mentioning

I think this is a good option if you’re looking for a smaller unit with some nice bells and whistles, and it’ll be our daily driver especially at night.

Great training collar. Worked well and includes clear and complete instructions. The charge held well and recharges fast. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a training collar.

This is a great tool for both off-leash and behavior correction (once your dog already has a solid obedience training base) if you follow a proper training/trainer to use it properly. Is working wonders on both leash reactivity and recall for my 5 year old rescue shepherd.

Right out of the box, the ease of use is un-matched. Former Dogtra Training E-Collar users will quickly pick up on the functions of the new 280X E-Collar. I upgraded from a Dogtra T&B 2500, and while I am sacrificing some range, this collar still packs more in functionality, aiding me to improve on my dogs training and control in situations. Vibration, Stimulation and Stim. Lock at set level, Nice output light, Noise pager and a smaller design? Dogtra continues to out perform their competition and release upgrades based on customer review, and I am glad I am here for it. I wanted an upgrade that would last me a couple years, and I strongly believe I just found it! I’ve also reached out to customer service from Dogtra directly in the past, and have always been assisted with any problem I may have been encountering. Their professionalism, dedication, and commitment to customer service still ring true, and I am proud to be a Dogtra user. Thank you again Dogtra!!!

I was a “train with treats” dog owner until my very smart dog outsmarted me. He would listen to me for treats, but many times other things were more interesting (like squirrels, or poop in the woods, or chicken bones on the sidewalk). I was never going to get 100% recall with treats, ever, no matter how long I trained. This collar (WITH PROPER TRAINING IN HOW TO USE IT) has changed my life and my dog’s life. He is calmer, he is more attached, he is happier, and he comes when I call him. He doesn’t lunge at food on the sidewalks anymore, he doesn’t counter surf, he doesn’t pull me down the street, he doesn’t bark at people or jump on them, and he COMES when I CALL HIM, no matter what. PLEASE get a trainer who knows how to work with you using this product. It is very easy to misuse it and not get good results.

I literally tried every collar I could to train my dog not to pull while walking. It did not take long for her to stop pulling while we were walking using the Dogtra collar. Now while walking hardly ever have to use so happy that I purchased it. Very easy to use and have had no problems with the battery life.

This is my first review ever. That’s how great this product is. Story time…

My dog is deaf and needs a good strong vibration and a shock setting…

Bought a $45 pertrainer e-collar off amazon. It worked well but died with a bit of water contact. Got the replacement from them seamlessly, which was nice, a bit of rain and the replacement died as well.

Bought an e-collar from a pet store. The petsafe remote trainer. Vibration was too weak & the cibration button was the same as the shock button. No bueno.

This e-collar has a very strong vibration. My dog feels it and responds well every time. There’s a button for each function, shock and vibrate. It’s durable and STUPID PROOF for operating. Easily turn them on, pair and so on.

Truth be told it’s more $$$ than i would have liked to spend, but the quality is so worth it. If you have a deaf dog like i do, or if you just want a quality trainer with a great vibration setting, look no further.

    I hope this helps 🙌🏼

Very easy to use and to get dialed into the dog correctly. Our GSD learned very fast. Charges quickly and lasts for a couple of days at a time. He’s a different dog now!
