I bought this oil for my 12 yo pug who’s having arthritis issues as she gets older. I noticed her limping more often than not but don’t want to go straight for pain meds or muscle relaxers every time so I did a lot of research about natural ways to help my pug. Once I read about the anti-inflammatory effects of salmon oil, I thought it was at least worth trying. Pugs are also predisposed to food allergies that can severely irritate their skin, so I went slowing with the oil at first. After a couple weeks I was adding one pump to her breakfast everyday and haven’t stopped since. She still has some tough days with her arthritis but I feel like the daily aches and pains seem to have decreased, the product didn’t cause any unpleasant reactions and she seems really likes the taste.
The only less than stellar note I can include is that I also tried giving this oil to my 15 yo dachshund and it gave her very runny BMs, so I stopped giving it to her. I would feel comfortable trying again though, perhaps with a smaller amount or every other day.

Our family labrador “J” is 7 years old. A happy boy and forever playful, however about 2 years ago we discovered he was developing arthritis in both hip joints. In just the last year, we’ve gone from long walks and throwing a tennis ball for him forever to now limited walk distances and only 5-6 throws of a tennis ball before he starts limping. It gets so bad sometimes that we have to carry him up and down stairs at times. We tried this oil supplement for a few weeks with a slight noticeable difference, but it wasn’t until we ran out and didn’t have for a few weeks that it was apparent how effective it is. He had gone about 1week without the oil and all his old symptoms returned. Stiff, slow to get up or having a slight limp. Within 2 days of receiving our replenished order, J was seemingly pain free and playful. No limping. Even after long walks or running after my son in the yard. He even seems to shed less which is an added bonus. This really is a remarkable product. Ive watched the years melt away along with that painful look in his eyes. Thank you!! If you’re dog is arthritic, seriously give this a try.

I’m really a cat person but because I have a soft heart, I always end up with dogs no one else wants. And I don’t know about everybody else, but when my dogs are in distress, it makes me very anxious as well.
I have a long haired beautiful dog who has had a terrible life. It took me a year to be finally be able to get close to her with scissors. She was terrified of them and strangers, so having her groomed has been impossible. She started having hot spots after this horribly hot summer and I’ve been frantic to help her. I tried benadryl but I did not like the way it made her feel. I got a hot spot anti itch medicine but she’d lick it off and as it is for external use only, I was worried it was going to make her sick. So after much research, I purchased this. It’s been 3 days and she has stopped licking and scratching. 3 days!!! BTW, I received NO compensation or soliciting of my review.
I’m so relieved at how well this works for her. She is calmer, is back to having that joyful,. full of fun look in her eye. Her coat already feels softer and more beautiful. She wasn’t wild about it like my other dog. But she got used to it quickly and the main thing is that it works. She’s only 4, my other pup is 11 and she loved it from the first taste and was looking around for more. This will always be a part of our regular routine.

TL;DR Version: Definitely worth a try! I have noticed a difference since using it. It’s not a cure-all by any means but i believe it can definitely improve severe allergies.
background: I have a 5 yr old mixed breed (mainly shih tzu and poodle) that has horrible skin allergies. Some days he would lick, bite, and scratch until he bled (especially if I couldn’t catch it because I was at work) It was heartbreaking because I knew he was in so much pain and discomfort. It’s not that bad during the summer, but it’s ridiculous during the colder months as of course his skin gets dryer and more susceptible to irritation. I have tried so many things, change of diet, consistent bathing and moisturizing, chewable supplements (which he hated), sprays (which he also hates but I persisted with because it seemed to provide the most temporary alleviation of all the methods) And then I found this. I’ve done some research on the benefits of salmon oil and hemp oil and figured it couldn’t hurt to try it out. I purchased a little less than 3 weeks ago and started off with about half the recommended daily intake and he now takes the full amount.
pros: #1 he eats it right off a spoon! But for some reason won’t eat it if it’s drizzled on his food. Not sure what that’s about but whatever way he takes it is fine with me. I’m sure I don’t have to tell long time pet parents how hard it is to keep a routine when a dog doesn’t like something. #2 Even within that initial week i noticed a SIGNIFICANT drop in the amount of time he has spent scratching and licking. His skin has returned to a normal pale pink vs the pinkish/reddish and clearly irritated color it is when he’s suffering. Exactly what I was hoping for.
cons: #1 i wish there were a more simple way to dispense the oil (thinking of a cheapo medicine spoon) that came straight with the bottle. This isn’t a necessity in any way, but would be a nice & convenient bonus. #2 It’s a little more expensive than I would like, luckily I have a small dog, but I can’t imagine having multiple larger dogs and needing to get this replenished on a frequent basis. It’s worth it, but eventually will add up to a pretty sizable expense. #3 I really want to give a full 5 stars but it’s still pretty early on to say that this works perfectly. Like I mentioned before, my dog eats grain free food (just 6 by rachael ray), I take him to get groomed regularly and also do my part at home, and in between grooming use anti fungal sprays and moisturizing sprays. So it may very well just be a combination of all of that. And there’s nothing wrong with that, but I want to be transparent and want to give credit appropriately, because it doesn’t mean the oil isn’t helping, it just isn’t be a cure-all that some of you might be looking for. I’ve noticed that if I don’t give it at regular intervals ( i spread the full amount over two feedings — morning and evening) he seems to be a little more itchy, but that could just be me.
