I can’t speak for my goldfish in rating flavor or freshness, but I like the crisps because they are tidier than other formats of goldfish food.

Goldfish Crisps are a lot like the flake food most people are familiar with, but compressed into a harder thicker flake. This type of flake is hard for a smaller fish to eat, so if you have small goldfish in the 1″ – 2″ range, you probably don’t want to buy this product. I’m sure that it will soak, expand, soften and become edible to a smaller fish, but I don’t recommend it.
However, if you’ve had goldfish for a while and they’re closer to the 6″ range, flake food becomes increasingly wasteful. These compressed flakes are cheaper, less messy, and easier to “measure” proper nutrition — one crisp being adequate food for 1″ of fish. While I don’t count out flakes for 10 6″ – 8″ fish, I developed a good feel for the correct amount of food… which I never really did with normal flake food.

Best deal ever! I use to go to the pet value ! Until I had to wash my hands! To shop and buy fishy food. Only to get a way better deal! Twice as much fishy food for a 1 $ more!! Same food crisp for goldfish!! How much have they be over charging for yrs!!

The goldfish have been thriving on these crisps, and I definitely prefer them to the flakes. But like several of the other reviewers, I am having to change the filter quite often and am also seeing the reddish tint to the water that others have mentioned. I think I am going to try the Tetrapro Goldfish Crisps next time, since people seem to be more pleased with those in terms of not turning the water red. Now, it may be that I am giving the fish too much at a time – but they finish it within a couple of minutes.

I have edited my post after hearing back from the manufactor. Originally I had given them a 3 star rating, but now the issue is resolved so I would give it a 5.
I wanted to add that the representative from the company was marvelous about reaching out to me. Her suggestion about the crisps to fish length ratio was really helpful and has basically solved the issue for me. The instructions on the package do mention it, but also say the amount the fish can consume in 3 minutes. That should probably be revised, as that was what was causing the confusion.
The representative was also kind enough to send me a sample of the TetraPro Goldfish Crisps. I have to say – their customer service is outstanding!

I like the fish crisp food as opposed to the fish flakes. The crisps seem to float on the surface longer than the flakes, making it more likely the fish will eat before the the food falls or breaks down into the water before eaten…less waste and clearer water. Even when the crisps do sink before being eaten…if I’ve sprinkled in a bit too much…the crisps hold their shape longer than flakes, improving the likelihood the fish can find and eat the food before completely dissolving into the water

I use this product exclusively to feed goldfish I have in an outdoor pond, in a shaded atrium. Apparently the fish love the taste; they gobble it up at feeding time. More important, it must be nutritionally excellent. All the fish I have now were spawned in the pond, and some are at least 7 or 8 years old. They swim around actively, have an intense orange color, and all appear to be quite healthy. The largest ones are about 8 inches long. The fish food chips float on top of the water, so you can see how many the fish eat, and adjust the amount you feed them accordingly.

Quality food. My fancy goldfish love it.

In September 2012, my son won a goldfish at the fair. We bought a can of TetraFin Goldfish Crisps for him with a cheap plastic bowl. Figured that would be it. He wouldn’t outlive the can of crisps. Fast forward 9 years. Jedediah the Goldfish has now moved into a DELUXE glass bowl that my husband decorates with rocks hand selected now from different countries (or maybe different counties – just go with the story here). So anyway – Jedediah will ONLY eat TetraFin Crisps. Our local big box pet store doesn’t carry these any longer, so we have to purchase from Amazon. Every morning, when we come downstairs, he begs for his food – seriously – he goes to the top and makes kissy bubble sounds at the top of the water. BEGGING. If we run out of his crisps, he will completely ignore anything else you put in there. He will come back to the top and kissy bubble sound while whatever other garbage we tried to feed him sinks to the bottom. It’s PI-TI-FUL! So of course I spoil him like everyone else in the darn house and order his TetraFin Goldfish Crisps. I’m giving it 5 stars for flavor because that’s what he would give it – I cannot speak to their flavor. Spoil your Fair Fish – they will live with you longer than the children who won it!
