Kingsyard Metal Mesh Bird Feeder with Roof

I like how the birdfeeder looks but it is not the easiest birdfeeder I have owned to fill. The size is perfect as it fits well with the other three that are on my pole that holds a total of 4 bird feeders. This bird feeders is one of the first ones that the birds eat the birds eat the seeds out of first, so the design must be bird friendly. I wouldn’t say it’s water resistant because of all of the exposure holes for the birds to get seeds. The weight is very lightweight so when it is full of birdseed it doesn’t make my pole lean to one side.

This feeder is robust and nice design, but.
Unfortunately, the ‘roof’ pate does not project far enough to prevent water getting on to the base plate feeder. Yes, the base has drain holes, but, the water, obviously, contacts the bird food first. This causes blocked drains and prevents the feeder working.
Another 30 – 40mm on the ‘roof’ dimensions should fix it – I have already done it.

I love this feeder. It’s so cute and cozy looking! The squirrels love it and climb on it though. One was so fat he bent the hook. Other than trying to figure out how to keep them off it the birds love it but the larger birds have difficulty sitting on it. I should have a larger feeding edge or something they could sit on too. I bought a cheaper feeder so hopefully they can get on that one. We have had lots of visitors though and I love it! The squirrels knocked one of the plastic doors out so he could get into the middle of it and we have never found it! I made a new one out of a clear plastic 3-ring binder separator. It wasn’t thick enough so I cut three and glued them together. It works! Would love to know if they sell them as extra parts?! Anyway the light shines during the night and I like swing it everytime I let one of my dogs out in the middle of the night! I think it could have a little more drainage holes but otherwise it does drain pretty well. It’s fairly easy to clean. I don’t mind doing it. The water cups may or may not be very handy. I clean it out every 2-3days so the water doesn’t get that yucky. And it’s rained a lot so that’s probably helped to keep it cleaner. But I think if you didn’t want to deal with the dirty water, you. Oils fill the containers with big seeds/nuts or fruit wedges or little chunks etc. lots of things you could use them for other than water. Not a detraction at all, not to me anyway. But if you aren’t going to take it down and clean it regularly then it’d be best just leave them empty. I know it says squirrel proof but I don’t see any reference as to how it’s squirrel proof and the evidence shows that it’s not! lol but again, it doesn’t bother me. I’ve never seen any feeder that is able to deter the squirrels. We have ours on a pole and so I’m trying to think what I can do to deter them. I don’t mind feeding them but they hog it all. I’d rather put out food for them in their own area and keep them off the birds’ feeders. Then when their food is gone they’re done til I refill it! But the birds will still have theirs.
Anyway, I’m very happy with my feeder and would buy another one except it’s a little expensive. Worth it tho! But the second deer I bought was just an $8 markdown. It’ll do for now til I can get another nicer one. My main problem is that the blue jays and larger birds have trouble and can’t sit on it. Maybe I could figure out how to add some perches to it that they could sit on. Perhaps slide a couple wooden dowels thru it that fit thru the wire sides. I mention all these things in case anyone needs ideas or has ideas. I’ll read some other reviews to see if anyone has left their resolutions on their review.

I ordered the yellow and it is so pretty and bright even on dreary, rainy days. It is quality work and I’m sure it will last for years. I highly recommend it.

Je viens de recevoir cette mangeoire commandée en 2 exemplaires . Elle est très jolie et pratique. Elle est facile à remplir par le toit et comporte trois compartiments différents ce qui permet de diversifier les graines. Le volume de stockage est important ; il n’est donc plus nécessaire de remplir la mangeoire chaque jour. J’ai acheté un support “crochet de berger” qui me permet de suspendre la mangeoire hors sol.
A voir dans le temps en fonction des intempéries si le métal résiste à la corrosion. Mes anciennes mangeoires en bois sur pied n’ont résisté que deux hivers.
