Nice size and cute feeder. My only complaint is the top is a little hard to get off to fill.

I use this feeder with another one which is attached to the window. They work well together. After a year of having them, I would say that the attached one is good for pigeons and this one is better for smaller birds. The thing is it is difficult to spot little birds. They come and go quietly. Perhaps, one needs a camera to record the fact that little ones are even coming by. Pigeons, on the other hand, make so much noise that you will not miss them)) Squirrels use both of my feeders.

I like it so much, I’m buying a couple more. It holds sunflower seeds securely so that they don’t fall out whenever the wind blows. Birds have no trouble picking out the seeds. Sturdy construction that helps with my constant battles with the raccoons and squirrels. Good price, too! Top is not hard to open if you have fingernails.

The cap you remove to fill the feeder is a little difficult to remove. Otherwise my birds love it. It’s great for those birds that cling with their feet. I consider the feeder as snack size. Very sturdy.

This bird feeder has an interesting shape and it’s not too large. I have mine hanging on a shepherds hook. I get Cardinals, finches and woodpeckers! Squirrels have a difficult time getting at the seed as well!👍

This feeder works great, but it is very small. I have a no/no hourglass feeder, but the perch rings are perfect for squirrels and grackles to settle in and enjoy the food, so I was/am looking for a similar metal feeder without the perches, since I can’t manage, physically or fiscally, to refill my large feeders when the grackles and squirrels attack.
Most of the small birds (goldfinches, house finches, nuthatches and chickadees) love this feeder, and have no trouble clinging to the mesh and feeding. But due to the small size they are emptying it in less than a day, despite having two other feeders to choose from. So I’m back to having to refill it daily, and while the $ cost isn’t as high as the big feeders, I’m disabled and can’t get out there every day. For this to work I would need three or four more, in addition to the big feeders, and at that point I might just as well go for one of the expensive feeders that closes when heavy birds or squirrels visit.
Edited 05/08/17 to add that since the lid comes completely off with no attachment hinge or chain when it’s open, it is very easy to lose in a snow drift; and to completely disappear when a helpful neighbor comes through on his riding mower. With the lid off the finches, sparrows, and at this moment a Rose Breasted Grosbeak can get in, eat, and leave again. Unfortunately the small young squirrels also can. It’s hard to get a good picture, but if you look carefully you can see the squirrel inside the feeder.

I’ve had this for about a month now. Birds love it. It’s easy to fill and stays closed. It’s obviously not going to hold the small birdseeds. I have a few different kinds, so I used the largest seeds for this one. Sunflower/black sunflower works great. I have used just those, and I also used a mix with sunflowers in it. What I did was filled it, and then shook it out over a bucket so anything small would fall out and the bigger things were left. This prevented all of the seed just falling out completely. I hung it on a shepherd’s hook in my flower garden. This way anything that the birds drop leaves me with gorgeous sunflowers easily planted. Win-win. I have also packed it with peanut butter and seeds and put the whole thing in the freezer for a homemade suet. Love it.

For the last couple years, I watched the finches in my neighborhood bypass my finch feeder (with nyjer seed). I could never figure out why. I purchased this feeder and it has been attracting the finches wonderfully! The first day I hung it up I had goldfinches and house finches. I’ve had the feeder up for about a week and they have come everyday all throughout the day. I’ve even had a male/female cardinal pair come and check it out, although they won’t cling to it.
I purchased black oil sunflower seeds for this feeder. A few will still fall out as you fill it up, but that doesn’t bother me. I only fill it up about 1/3 of the way. I have a bag of mixed wild bird seed also, but I use that for my tube feeders in other locations in the yard.
The best part about this feeder is that it keeps the black birds from scaring away the finches. My other feeders with the wild bird seed seem to attract a lot of black birds and sparrows. I keep that toward the back of my yard, and hung up the ball feeder closer to my patio window. A few sparrows will cling to it, but they prefer the tube feeders.
I was a bit hesitant to purchase this item because many reviews claimed that the top of the feeder could easily be opened by squirrels and little birds were getting trapped inside. I’m wondering if the manufacturer fixed this issue because the lid is quite tight. I have to give it a bit of a tug to remove the top. It gives a good “snap” sound when I put the lid back on and I don’t feel that any birds or squirrels will be able to open it.
I am very pleased with my feeder, and it brings a lot of visual enjoyment while looking out my kitchen window. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking to attract clinger birds only. It works wonderfully!
