Podria ser un poco más barata

These are pricey but the most effective product I’ve found yet for our beardie’s habitat. Keeps it up to temp and gives him proper levels of heat and UVB that are essential for his health. A lot of cheaper bulbs do not, to the animals detriment. As with any uvb bulb, the vet suggested that it be replaced every 4-6 months even if it still lights up, as the amount of uvb it produces decreases over time. We’ll continue to invest the money in this cause it’s so important for his health.

I have been using these lights (mostly 100 watt) for about 7-years and highly recommend them. This is I think, only the second time to use the 160 watt ( two of them). My red ear slider turtles are living in large (150-gallon) open top, stock tanks. This is only anecdotal evidence of the effectiveness of these lights but worth mentioning. Since using theses lights, the ‘great shed’ is a thing of the past. The great shed used to happen the first two times I took the turtles outdoors to get natural, springtime sunlight where they would shed virtually all of their carapace scutes. Now that is a thing of the past. My turtles are 32 and 20 years old. These are great lights.

No he batallado con los focos, llevo meses usándolos y han sido muy buenos. Generan demasiado calor, pero es lo que mis tortugas terrestres necesitan.

I use these 160 watt bulbs for my turtles and have for many years, they provide heat for basking and UVB for healthy shell growth when the turtles can’t get enough natural sunlight. These bulbs are as import as good nutrition and good water quality. A word of caution, these bulbs loose their UVB ray strength over time and must be replaced, just because the bulb is still lit doesn’t mean it is still producing the amount of UVB needed by your pet.

Expensive but worthwhile and necessary given that the long tube-style UV lights are worthless in large enclosures with their very short UVB penetrating distance. I don’t know for sure if it’s just coincidence or not but my 40 inch green iguana has always had a mercury vapor UV bulb and is still extremely bright green whereas my previous one was very dull green at this point without a mercury vapor bulb. It’s also very convenient that it serves as both a heat and UVB lamp.
My last one petered out in 10 months, but I was leaving it on for more than the recommended 8 hours per day, so I don’t think I’ll bother trying to get it replaced under warranty. Just in case my new one dies sooner, I’m keeping the box, UPC, and receipt so I can mail it in for a replacement if necessary.
Although it is somewhat expensive, the price is still far lower on Amazon than at any pet stores I’ve been to in person.

This is a great price for this product. Works perfectly! Keeps my bearded dragon alive and well. Lasts longer than 6 months, but I change out after 6 months to make sure lamp and light are at peak performance at all times.

The quality has really changed in this product since purchased last a year ago. They are now made in China instead of Japan, but price is still the same. Still works and does the job I need for my turtles basking platform .

I am reposting this review because I am stunned by the complaints posted here about this bulbs’ lifespan. I have used these bulbs for my Russian tortoises for over 15 YEARS. There is literally no equal to the 160W bulb on the market. Considering the power, the broad spectrum, and the usage schedule for these animals I would never even use this bulb for a full year, as like any light source of this kind it becomes less effective near the end of its lifecycle. Thus, the demand that it work they way it did out the box a year later is an absurd complaint. I would say 8 months is about the maximum before you should consider replacing.

I don’t get all these mediocre and negative reviews I’m seeing. I’ve had a green iguana for going on 16 years now and as he grew I came to begin using this more powerful bulb. I’ve been using these for at least 12 years and only once was there an issue which Zoo Med handled immediately and while I’ve always had other backups, albeit less powerful, after that I kept a 2nd Powersun on hand except for the short time between the year being up (UV rays last) and the time it takes for a new one to arrive in the mail. Occasionally the light will go off per the built in overheat protection (this might be in the fixture) but it’s very reliable, my iguana has never had any digestive issues or metabolic bone disease and until recently he kept good skin coloration but that has nothing to do with the light, he’s just older now so getting some grayness but only around the face and neck.

This light worked great initially. FYI if you move the lamp the bulb will shut off for about 15 minutes and turn itself back on. That was no problem. My issue is that after a week or so, the bulb just started turning itself off for no apparent reason. It’s on and off all day today so it’s going back. Way too expensive for this. My beardie just sits in the dark looking up wondering where the light went. Maybe it gets too hot and is a safety feature? Too strong of a light? Or POS light like the other 1 star reviews claim?
