The Best Cancer surviving movies ever. My daughter and I both have had cancer and laughed, then cried, then came to the realization that we were going to be ok. We still watch this movie and even though we are hundreds of miles apart we can still adlib many parts, especially the “take a whack at Wheezer” lines. This is the best movie ever!!

I’m not a chick flick guy. But Steel Magnolias isn’t just a chick flick. Tom Skerritt (Drum) has a number of great scenes, especially in his interactions with Shirley MacLaine (Ouiser). Sam Shepard’s (Spud) problems are ones almost every guy can relate to. The stars though are the six steel magnolias. Sally Field is wonderful as M’lynn. Dolly Parton is brilliant as Truvy, who teaches new hairdresser Darryl Hannah (Annelle) that it takes a lot of work to look good. Olympia Dukakis (Clairee) steals practically every scene she’s in. Finally, Julia Roberts is wonderfully tragic as Shelby. Steel Magnolias is brilliant, both funny and moving, with great dialogue and even a fair amount of slapstick. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve watched it.
Don’t know anything about My Best Friend’s Wedding. I bought it because the combo was only $1 more than Steel Magnolias alone. I’m sure I’ll watch it some rainy evening, maybe with a piece of red velvet armadillo cake. But my review is simply for Steel Magnolias, the best “chick flick” ever.

I was a little skeptical buying two movies on one disc especially being a “regular” dvd but the quality was perfect my my tv in the bedroom. If I’d watched it on my bigger screen TV I may have noticed but since both movies are so great you see past that.

The DVDs are okay, but the case had a hole in it. I bought this as a gift for my daughter because I couldn’t find the combo new for her. The seller should have put it in a new case or at least a used case without a hole.

Both are good but Steel Magnolias is fabulous and being a true Southerner, I could see the similarities. I’m one that can laugh at myself. It’s such a funny film.

Steel Magnolias is an excellent movie with many of my favorite actors. I have had this film for years in my own video library, and have viewed it numerous times. I purchased this movie as a present for my daughter-in-law, and she loved it, too. Shirley McClaine is hilarious, Sally Fields is excellent, The entire staff performed wonderfully! It has always made me laugh out loud, and cry openly. I would recommend this movie to any woman (or man) who enjoys romance and tragedy, as well as comedy.
My Best Friend’s Wedding is not as good, but is an enjoyable “chick flick”. Worthy of watching.

Steel Mangolia is not in french, that was the reason why I bought it for the second time. It was written that it is bilingual, and only 1 movie is bilingual
