As a fan of Star Wars and also the original Battlefront series, I love this game. Does it have flaws? Yes. More importantly, does the game allow you to immerse yourself in the world of the Star Wars original trilogy? Yes. Yes it does.
Positive points:
First of all, the game is BEAUTIFUL. This is certainly the game’s best feature. The maps are intricately detailed, down to the starfighters battling in the sky above you as you fight on the ground. The blaster bolts look like blaster bolts from Star Wars. They even explode on the rocks like they do in Star Wars. The sound effects are exquisite, and very Star Wars-esque. Flying an X-Wing looks, sounds, and FEELS like flying an X-Wing.
Second, the combat is fluid from both third-person and first-person perspectives. I like the power-up system (running over a power-up on the ground gives you a random power-up ranging from a rocket launcher to an air strike) as well as the “secondary weapon” system. Instead of choosing a secondary weapon, you choose from a list of cards (which must be unlocked) that can contain a variety of grenades, weapons, and temporary boosts.
Third, there is good variety to the gametypes. There are objective gametypes such as Droid Run and Drop Zone (both of which require capturing and holding objective points), and also the traditional team deathmatch (called Blast). Do you want to just fly around and dogfight? There’s a gametype for that too. Walker Assault and Turning Point are large gametypes where one team is defending and the other team is assaulting. These two gametypes allow use of vehicles.
Negatives:
Personally, I don’t mind the lack of campaign except I think the price should’ve been lower as a result.
The game is unbalanced at times (A-Wings and the DL-44 blaster, for example, are overpowered).
Overall, as a Star Wars fan, I love this game and would certainly recommend it to my friends (which I have, and they like it as well).

I bought this game back when it came out and yes there were so much problems it had for so long and it made paying 60$ feel like it wasn’t worth it at all. Heres my review of things when it came to SWBF for the PC
Pros:
Great Graphics: Everything was well designed in terms of the vehicles, weapons, and buildings etc. It matched the tone of Star Wars.
Coop Missions and Challenges: Join up with a friend or seek out a challenge fighting waves of enemy imperial or Rebel troops.
1v1 Battles: You ask a friend to do some 1v1 with ya in private matches.
Music: Most of the music we love and enjoy was in this game and it was good.
Large Scale Battles: 48 Player Battles that just crazy and out right Chaos.
Cons: (I know everyone will have different views about the cons of this game so bear with me.)
Match Maker Only System:
In the past battlefront titles, We never had this going on but now we do. Is matchmaker good for something like SWBF? The Answer is NO. Since the Release, The game received serious complaints on Forums that stated that a browser system was a vital necessity for Battlefront and they were right. Developers wanted to keep consumer control out of play which don’t help at all on a larger scale. Does matchmaker help in terms of a scarce player base that we have right now? The Answer is NO. Sorry EA/Dice Maybe you guys need to shove that matchmaker stick up your ass if you know what I mean.
Severe Weapons and Game Balance Problems:
If you played the game since day 1, you’ll know what I refer to. The Game got patched so many times due to massive grenade spamming and all that etc and it got to the point where most players were not to play anymore till something was done. Is there still weapon balance problems going on as of April 2017? The answer is YES. Whatever method that they using to determine about balance problems, it isn’t working.
Hackers:
Yes there is Unfortunately and there is A lot. So if anyone says that “Dedicated Servers” are the reason for Hackers, guess again. Cheaters can get 3rd party programs running in a game regardless if its a dedicated server or not. Have hackers been getting their heads on a pike for it. Yes they have but it has to be done via reporting system. I ended up reporting 55 players for known hacks that were spotted and easy to tell when seen being used. 47 of them were banned with their user names either labeled banned or banned cheating. Is there still hacking going on as of 2017? Yes there is. If you encounter cheating, report em right away so the data can be taken care of right away.
Voice acting:
Why am I bringing this part up? Every voice I heard in game (except for Boba Fett who was very close to his character’s original tone) was down right awful and absolutely Pathetic. Who the fk at EA/DICE hired those voice actors who did a fked up job with iconic characters? honestly. wtf was EA thinking. Most of the voice dialogue I heard was totally wrong by far. Their tons were not even close what star wars had and it wasn’t even close to the game’s tone to it either. If you have played other star wars games like I have and have heard their tone’s, They were way better than this crap we got on battlefront.
Very Low Player Base:
What can I say. Lots of modes but there just isn’t many people willing to play them. Matchmaker wont fix that.
No Server or Game Room Browser:
Players have no control especially if wanting to join a populated game over being placed in a room with NO players at all. EA/DICE never considered fixing it.
The Price: I bought this game for 60$ and after 3 months of playing, I felt this game only was worth 30$. No Single Player Campaign was a big blow obviously. Also the Season pass they gave out really didn’t workout well either since the pass itself is only worth 20$ in my opinion. Season aint worth it unless origin has some sale going on.
Overall: Honestly this is only a start of some major downfalls that have yet to come. We have seen other games like this take bad turn for the worse and its never going to get any better. The loss of consumer control hits hard in places where battlefront was great for. Loss of server browser and dedicated server controls that consumers had in past Battlefront titles were like getting shot in the head when it wasn’t necessary to mess with by EA/DICE.
Is Battlefront 2 going to encounter same kind of trash bullshit like we’ve seen so far in this battlefront when it comes out? The Answer is YES. It will be bad. It will be Another repeat of bad shit to come.
Between the Scale of 1-10 I gave Star Wars Battlefront a 2 of 10. Reason being for this is that there was very little support by Devs. if they had listened more and actually play the game with consumers to see what the problems were going on they be able to fix things more effectively and not relying solely on data.
Does this game deserve to be in the hall of shame? YES
Is it worth buying as of April 2017? NO
