This is the third truck we’ve installed the Dee Zee tailgate assist on.
The install is pretty simple and straight forward.
If you are installing this on a Super Duty you may find that the included Star T50 tool may not be strong enough and fails.
According to Dee Zee this one fits the 2023 Super Duty but the Amazon page says it does not.
It does indeed fit my 2023 F350.
The only thing I had to do extra was remove the silly bottle opener on the tailgate for clearance.
I’ve attached a before and after video showing how nicely it controls the opening.
You would think that all manufacturers would include a dampener and not beat up the hinges.

Work so good until you let go of the work trucks tailgate and then realize, they dont have them like your truck haha.
Got my dad a set for his F250 after he saw them on my F150.

Great price and great utility. I love being able to open the F-250 tailgate and let it descend on its own. No more do I need to keep it from falling while also balancing items in my arms.
The instructions were very clear and easy to follow, even though I didn’t pay attention and put the shock on upside down. It was easy enough to pop off the clips and reverse it. It fits as if Ford made it.
For its low price, it was a “buy it on principle” thing.

Easy to put on and works good. Don’t use their torx wrench, get a T50 socket, you’ll need the better grip and torque a ratchet provides to get the stud out. Only issue is if your tailgate has tie downs, you’ll have to remove the one on the driver side or the gate won’t close. No biggie, I wouldn’t want to tie something down on the tailgate anyway.
