I was looking around for a replacement digital tire gauge to replace the basic one I got at some auto store, because that one was having problems making a seal on the valves. This one was the one I decided to go with. It has a good light-up display, a handy bend in the handle design, & it will make a seal well as long as you get it on the valve just right. However, I found that the silver nose cone will come loose sometimes as you are fiddling w/the thing on your tire valve, & then you have to screw it back on which is a minor annoyance. The plastic in it is just basic & cheap. So as far as the rating goes if I could give half stars I think I might knock this down to 3 1/2 stars.

I regret having wasted my money on this piece of junk. It says it has replaceable batteries, but to access the battery, you have to unscrew a tiny screw, which necessitates a special screw driver. Fortunately, I had one, so as soon as I got this, I thought I’d make sure the battery could be easily removed, but the head of the tiny screw stripped at my first attempt to loosen it. So now the battery case can’t ever be opened, and this piece of junk will go to the landfill as soon as the battery wears out. Infuriating.
Too Tall –
The name Victor attracted me since Victor makes top line welding gauges and equipment but I suspect this is a China knock off. It is made in china. It only goes to 90 psi, uses the harder to find batteries and lets too much air escape when checking pressure.

Nice backlight, accurate, repeatable measurements, and easy to use….. just like the first Victor I had that lasted 25 years before the non-replaceable battery finally went south.
This new one allows battery replacement, so that’s a bonus. As for the person complaining it only goes to 99 pounds, that’s a GOOD feature, as it makes the readings more accurate in the mid-range that today’s vehicles actually use.
I’m amazed at the number of complaints from people who say the unit has to be turned on for it to work. I mean, really???

Despite being well-reviewed, neither of these gauges that I ordered as Christmas gifts functioned. One wouldn’t turn on at all, for the other, it came with the backlight lit and wouldn’t go off. Very disappointed. I returned both.
US Army Ranger –
I have had a difficult time getting other gauges to fit the tire stem correctly and usually having air leaking or not getting a good reading. This Victor gauge fits nicely and I get accurate readings every time. The backlit LED display is excellent, especially in daylight along with a handy grip.
UPDATE JAN-22: I downgraded my rating from 5 Stars to 1 because I used this gauge only on my vehicle about every two months, for about a total of 7-8 times. Then it stopped working.
Buy something more reliable.
