Like many other reviewers, my set was missing a socket and had a duplicate of another one in its place (missing 21mm with an 18mm in its place). I ordered this set and a 3/8″ metric impact socket set from the Sunex Tools Store. both sets had the same problem (missing 17mm with two 16mm’s on the other set), so it is a common problem. Seems their packaging process needs to be changed. Most likely people packing them too fast on an assembly line, but who knows. Maybe there’s just one guy there who’s too cool for his reading glasses?
One call to Amazon customer service got new sets coming and return labels for the bad sets. I returned them the next day and the new ones arrived a few days later with no missing sockets, so the down time wasn’t too bad. About a month later, I got an email saying I only had a few days left to return one of the sets or I would be charged for it. I had to call customer service again and get that straightened out. So, the exchange process could have been better.
I am happy with the actual sockets. They look just like my old Snap-On swivel sockets before they did away with the collars on them. I’ve been using these a lot for caliper bracket bolts. The excessive amount of thread lock some manufacturers use really put these to the test. None of them are binding yet.
Some people have complained about the 1/2″ drive hole being cut flat and not chamfered. (They do fit a little snug on my impact, but they are new sockets on a new impact.) I haven’t had a problem getting them on or off. Also, adding a chamfer would mean less surface area on the impact anvil (which will wear out faster), or making the socket taller (which will need more space). I like them how they are.
My only complaint is that they are not labeled in a line. On a socket rail you will not be able to see many of the sizes. I can read the painted sizes on the collars well, but that will get scraped off over time. the stamped sizes are small and harder to read, as well.
Most of the tool trucks have moved on to pinless or laser welded pins on their impact swivel sockets. The newer styles break as often as the pin and collar ones, they just have a little more clearance without the collar. I’d say these are like tool truck quality sockets from 20 years ago, at a 1/3 of the price of new ones.
Overall, these are good sockets at a good price. I just hope they have figured out how to put them in a box. I know a lot of people would have just returned them and got another set from their favorite tool truck.

These sockets are so beefy for their range of sizes that you will never have to worry about breaking any of them because any bolt you’re trying to take off will shear long before these sockets give out. They were a bit too cautious though by stopping at 24mm in a 1/2 drive since a 1/2 anvil can handle much larger sizes with ease, but that’s part of why these are basically impossible to break so that may be a plus for some people dealing with extremely seized bolts in the 24mm and below range. I wish they went up to 30mm with an increased cost but they don’t lose any stars for it because the set is clearly advertised so that you know what you’re getting.

I’m a professional mechanic and I purchased the 1/2 drive impact swivels for work about a year ago. I use them just about everyday and they are holding up great! I even use them with a high output Ingersoll Rand 1/2 drive air impact gun and they’re not breaking! I definitely recommend this socket set!

I was turned onto this brand by two master mechanics from different places. The most recent being at the Ford dealership I work at now. Jim is our most experienced tech with close to 40 yrs experience. He said, “I’m done buying from the tool trucks. Sunex makes good tools.”
Considering he paid nearly 10x the cost of this kit for similar 1/2 inch drive metric swivel sockets from SnapOn, he knows good tools.
So, I took his advice, watched a bunch of tests on YouTube and it just backed up what Jim said. I ordered these and couldn’t be happier. Zero play, built like a tank, easy to read the size. The whole set for the cost of ONE swivel socket from SnapOn.
