This oil is very good for older flat tappet cam shaft engines. Try to buy the 2 jug case to get the best price per quart. This oil has a better daily driver detergent package than the Valvoline VR1 oil which is a racing oil. If you have a older car with a flat tappet cam and you want to run a conventional oil this is the one to get. I have a 1970 Corvette with a factory solid lifter cam and this oil is what I use.

This is the proper oil to use in a vintage classic car with flat tappet cam(s) and no catalytic converter. The level of ZDDP (Zinc) is high enough to protect non-roller cams and vintage engines. Castrol is a known proven brand, and this is the right stuff for your classic.

ZDDP was dramatically reduced in recent decades because the zinc is bad for the cats (due to blow-by) for emission controlled engines. Unfortunately that is an essential oil additive for anything that has a cam / valve train that uses flat (non-roller) lifters or cam followers. I would recommend this oil (in the appropriate weight) for anyone with a pre-cat classic car engine.

Great oil that still has zinc in it for hydraulic flat tappet engines. Good price. On time delivery.
