If under warranty or not, don’t mix and match different oils. At least I wouldn’t. Looks like the fluid that came out only cleaner. No issues, shift smoother, transmission engages much quicker. Changed at 41,000 miles. I’m glad I did the service myself. Dealer wanted almost $1200, I did the pan and oil for, less than $350. And it was easy to do. It seems like a lot of people on YouTube concern themselves with raising the transmission and getting the drain plug, etc. Look at the new pan, take a half inch drill bit, and drill a hole through the old oil pan right where the intake is to the filter. Let it drain. Take the old pan off put the new one on. Simple .

6 litres is perfect amount of oil to service your ZF 8 speed trans. I believe i used almost 5 1/2 litres. Save yourself 100+ dollars buying through Amazon vs the dealer.

This stuff goes for at least $30 a quart at the dealer, but in this 6 pack it makes it $14 a quart. Because this is a heavier item, it wasn’t part of prime 2 day delivery, it was 4 days, but it was worth the savings to wait a couple extra days.

Recently bought a used jeep Cherokee and the transmission was a little rough between the low gears. Decided I’d give it the drain and fill treatment since it’s a sealed trans and probably never had been changed. I was shocked to find out it takes this fluid which is only available in Mopar brand and is 37$ a qt at the dealer, even rock auto wanted 25+$ a qt. This seller had a 6 qt case for right around 90$ and only took a few days to get. I ended up buying two cases and did 2 drain and fills and will be able to do a 3rd with the remaining fluid. The vehicle shifts WAY smoother, bear in mind this fluid is clear with a green tint so when you drain and fill it’s best to measure what you take out and put precisely that much back as it’s hard to check even with the dip stick tool. Good value, solid product, would buy again.

My Cherokee had 75,000 miles on it and the transmission was starting to have occasional wonkiness. Wonkiness is a highly technical term and you must be a PhD to understand it.

So I did a poor man’s fluid change. The Jeep makes it fairly easy there’s a plug on the bottom and about 4 quarts will come out. You can always use one of the sucker systems from the top and get more out..

There is then an input hole accessible via the driver side wheel well. Take the tire off jacck up the car safely and turn the steering wheel all the way and your hand can just about get in there with a torx bit on a small ratchet. Then a long funnel from the top and you can refill using this fluid.

I put in the exact amount that I got out. Because it was not a full proper change I just did it the easy way and measured in-v-out to the ounce.

Wow what a difference my transmission is so much quieter and smoother shifting it was worth the couple of hours of labor.

I do not believe in the lifetime fluid principle. Most of the manufacturers say transmissions fluid is for life to keep their ” cost per mile” stats down, it’s just not true.
