Investment casting of base only gave a 1/16″ wall thickness around the sole theaded fit. Weak. Base must be turned to tighten plunger into plastic atv shelf, casting base is rough and rips plastic. Had to make big plastic washers to protect atv. Should have come w/washers. Holder, rubber jaws and bands very strong.

Great product. Very sturdy and will have no concerns putting my bow or rifle in these. All of the reviews stating these don’t fit the lock and ride for Polaris ATV are wrong. They installed wrong. You need to hand tighten the rubber plug but not over tighten. Once you put in your lock and ride hole, screw clockwise until right. If it doesn’t get right, pull out and hand tighten the rubber plug a little more. It should be completely stable. Great product. Could use better instructions as I figured this out on my own after experiencing loose fits.

Screws right on the the end of my wooden arm. Awesome product, I feel like a lobster man!
Brandon Beckstrom –
Have tried over and over to get these to tighten up on the four wheeler. Will not get tight enough to reliably stay secure. One has fallen out twice just from normal riding. Very disappointed. Unfortunately I bought them before I needed to use them for hunting season. After trying them for the last couple weeks and seeing how bad they are I tried to return them. My return window has expired.

These things are burly, big, and heavy duty. I have used them for firearms and a variety of tools ranging from shovels, to sledge hammers, to trimmers, etc. The grips hold everything firmly and away from the machine so no damage occurs.
A few comments in response to the bad reviews. The base of these grips is aluminum, which when mounted on plastic will scratch the plastic. That is just common sense. A cheap, simple solution is available at any hardware store. Buy a neoprene washer and place that in between the clamp and the ATV deck. No scratches. Also, the grips ARE big. This is an advantage as it keeps the cargo away from the ATV. They also rotate on the central shaft so you can fold them horizontal to the machine when not in use. This reduces the grip height so they aren’t in the way. Lastly, they attach firmly to the lock and ride. Read the instructions for the grips and your Polaris lock n ride before installation. If you mount them correctly they aren’t going anywhere.

Heavy duty, installed quick and easy. Will be leaving for hunting in a couple days an going to put them to the test.
Update: back from hunting and they performed fantastically. I took my machine all over the place and the racks held tight and even had enough grip and room I could wrap my rifle in a soft case and it would still fit in the Kolpin grips. I highly recommend them.

Not lock and ride at all I don’t really like it. It barely holds my fishing rods, it’s awkward and the rubber strap isn’t that strong. I’m not one to complain and give negative reviews but I’m very disappointed with this purchase $100 down the drain.
Tim –
They should call them the slop and ride system. They don’t hold tight in the back of my sportsman 450 at all. One ride around the yard with my rifle in the mount and one side popped out. For over $100 I expected a much better product. Looks like I’ll have to re-engineer a way to mount them since Kolpin couldn’t do it from the factory

Bought these assuming I could make them work on my Cfmoto cforce 600 and I was right. I went to my local hardware store and purchased the following:
5/16-18×1.5’’ hex bolts (2)
5/16×1.25” finder washer (4)
5/15 lock washer (2)
I then cut down the rubber anchor down to 0.75” which makes it stand just proud of the top of the rack. Once everything is tightened down this will compress helping it lock down even more. I used 2 fender washers and 1 lock washer with each bolt. You can see in the video that once everything was tightened down there was some flex, but that is coming from the plastic rack and not the gun rack assembly. The Koplin rhino grips are heavy duty and would recommend. Even if you use these on a Polaris or any other machine I would recommend replacing the threaded post with a hex bolt and fender washers so that you can tighten from the bottom vs screwing the top onto the bottom and potentially scratching your racks.

Sturdy item and fit perfectly on my 2017 Sportsman XP 1000. Will be used to transport an electric trolling motor.

I’ve used Kolpin rifle mounts before. But never this particular one. Incredibly heavy and robust. No matter how much I try to use the Polaris Lock and Ride mounts. No way. There is no way to tighten these down without severely scratching up your plastic deck. And once it’s tight it’s still wiggles. It’ll never come out, likely not. But it flops around and that’s even without the rifle in it. So I ended up drilling and then bolting them from underneath to my front deck. So still use them just not the way they were intended to be used. I wouldn’t buy them again. I get a much lighter more universal unit.

I used these mounts on a week long deer hunt in Wyoming and they held my rifle steady the whole time. They are heavy duty and well built. My only complaint is the Polaris Lock and Ride system does not compliment the sturdiness of the mounts. It took a few times to get them tight in the holes. I had to flip one of the rubber grommets and that seemed to help. The never came out but did rattle a little bit, I think that is only the fault of Polaris and not because of the mounts. Great product.
