I am not a fan of buying a product, and then giving it a glowing review because I do not want to be a free advertisement for these big companies. I am bending that rule to review this guitar though because I am an even bigger believer in getting affordable, quality instruments into the hands of guitarists.
I have had this guitar for about two weeks now. I made some modifications, but most are just personal preferences.
When I got the guitar home from getting it set up, I noticed that two of the three knobs had cracked! They were fine when I was leaving the store, but I must have hit something just right while the guitar was in the gig bag for that to happen. I feel like that was on me even though I have never had anything like that happen. I ordered some new knobs from Amazon. I accidentally ordered clear knobs that would go on a Les Paul-style guitar. They look out of place, but they work better for me to do volume swells and whatnot. It was a happy accident.
I changed the stock tuners with Gotoh locking tuners. This was a change that I make on all of my guitars. I just prefer locking tuners. This brand of locking tuners are not just a drop-in replacement. I had to install them. I had to ream the holes on the front of the headstock and drill new holes in the back for the screws. Doing this was no big deal. I had no issues with making minor alterations to improve the playability of a guitar that is in my hands for hours at a time.
I also put on strap locks, but that is barely a modification.
I have only one knock about this guitar. The nut was not glued in. It comes off when you restring it. I just glued it, and the problem was solved.
The PRS Silver Sky SE is a great guitar! It plays well. holds tune, and the electronics are solid. My stepdaughter picked it out for me for Father’s Day (I got it a little early). I have been reluctant to get a Strat-type guitar because of where the volume knob is placed on Fender Stratocasters. The knob has been moved about half of an inch. This makes all the difference in the world to me as far as right-hand comfort goes.
The stock pickups sound just fine. I will not be replacing them. The neck is done well with very good fretwork. This is a nice guitar to play and work with. I would definitely replace this guitar with another one just like it if something were to happen to it.
Overall, I do not feel like I am playing an inexpensive imported version of an American-made guitar. I feel like I am playing a solid guitar that was made well regardless of its country of origin. This guitar is well worth the money.

I own both US and SE models. To tell you the truth, I prefer my SE….it is a solid, well built, great designed guitar. And for the price, it’s a real gemstone! The JM pickups sound better than any single coil p/ups I’ve ever heard….if I could go back in time, I’d have only bought the SE……as it sounds as good, if not better than it’s US brother….I highly suggest procuring one for yourself….only downside is the weight, coming in at 18 pounds….but I’ll gladly strap it on , bad back and all! 🤟🏼🎸🤟🏼🎸
