I was researching for a classical guitar with great sound and good value when I came across the Cordoba brand. I read/viewed a lot of reviews where an overwhelming number of owners were very happy (sometimes giddy) with their Cordoba purchase. Especially impressive are the experienced reviewers who have played many guitars for many years stating that the Cordoba is the best they’ve heard/played and are in disbelief at the low price of the guitar. After doing some price checking on-line, I visited a local guitar store. I played a few of the other brands first to get a taste of their sound. Then I picked up the Cordoba C7 CD and immediately noticed how lightweight it was . . . cool! Then I played it and was pleasantly surprised at the lush, rich, and deep sound it produced, which I much preferred over the other brands played first. Then I saw the all-solid-wood Cordoba C9 CD hanging high above on the wall. I asked the associate to take it down for me and it felt just as light as the C7 CD in my hands. I sat down, started to play it, and heard the same signature sound as the C7 CD, but there was a subtle but noticeable difference. At first, I couldn’t pinpoint the cause, but after switching back and forth between the two a few times, I realized it was the deepest bass (6th) string–it rang deep and clear like a bell, without any hint of buzz. The same string on the C7 CD didn’t ring the same way for sure. I went home and did some more research on-line and found one where a HumiCase humidified guitar case was included with the C9 CD for the same price as the one in the store with a Polyfoam case–so naturally I ordered the one with the HumiCase (a no brainer there). Now I too am still giddy with my purchase and while playing it. Five stars for the C9 CD guitar!
Additional Review 2/8/15: I forgot to review the brown HumiCase included with the C9 CD purchase, so here it goes. The case is definitely not sturdy enough for travel. It looks like it was designed to be an “at-home” case for humidifying your guitar. It is very plush and soft inside, and it has the circular sponge case mounted in a recessed spot in the lid above the sound hole. The handle connection to the case looks weak, to the point that I instinctively exercise caution every time I lift the case, taking care not to exert any twisting force to the handle for fear of shearing/tearing the connection right off. The 3 metal clasps are not heavy duty either. The fit is decent, but the finish has a few small problems. Some dried glue is present, the outer brown layer material (vinyl?) lifts in a corner (probably due to insufficient glue application), and some of the trim does not line up. But these negatives are minor issues for me. I consider this case purely an at-home guitar humidifier case–and for this purpose it does well. Considering humidification primary and all else secondary, I rate this case 3 stars.

Lovely mellow tones and well defined trebles. Beautifully made instrument. Only negative is the bass strings had a few spots of tarnish on the silver. Would recommend as for a conservatory guitar.

Nice guitar, you shouldn’t be buying it unless you’ve tried one out anyway. I’m writing this review of the case, mainly because some of the reviews on amazon for the hard shell Cordoba case (purchased alone) are kind of negative. I almost went with the soft one but I took a chance on this one instead. It’s not that bad, but it’s not the nicest. It’s sufficiently hard and the padding is nice. However, the latches seem kind of cheap and like they could easily break or pop open. Now to be fair I bet you could use it for many years without that happening, but I’m talking about peace of mind. It seems ok for storage but I wouldn’t want to use it to carry around the guitar a lot. I’d want a roadrunner if I was going to do that. Or a giant rubber band to put around this one. Cordoba should just invest in nicer latches and pass along the cost. We’re already dropping a fair amount of cash to buy the guitar. Personally I’m cool with another $30 or so for a solid case.

This year instead of making the ordinary new years resolutions such as lose weight, quit a bad habit, etc. I decided that this year I will learn something new. So I started doing some research and found that there were several brands that kept on popping up such as Cordoba, Alhambra, Kremona, etc. However I found that the C9 best met the standards I was looking for. I don’t think there are any other all solid wood guitars out there at this price point that can compare to the C9 both in build quality and the quality of the materials.
I bought this package because it came with the Humicase that once you register it will extend your 3 year warranty to a lifetime warranty. Upon opening the case I was amazed at how beautiful this guitar was. The smell of the solid cedar top and beautiful finish of the wood. But the looks aren’t the only thing that is beautiful on this instrument. Just playing the first few songs that I remembered I could tell that I had hit the jackpot. The solid cedar top makes warm, bright, and clear resonating sounds. I am just a beginner but this guitar makes me want to dedicate time and hard work to take advantage of it’s tonal qualities.
The frets were polished and did not have any sharp edges to them at all. The gold plated tuners are precise and easy to adjust. It comes with an adjustable truss rod which does not weigh down the neck at all. The guitar is very light which makes it easy to handle. Overall I think this is an outstanding piece of art. And I can tell that a lot of hard work and solid craftsmanship went into making this guitar. Sooner or later I will look into getting a luthier made guitar, but as of now I am thoroughly happy and impressed with the C9. I am going to have to put in a lot of hours and time to be able to make this guitar sing with its full potential. I highly recommend this guitar to anyone from beginners to advanced intermediate classical guitar players.

This is a great sounding guitar for the price. Unfortunately the company made the guitar with the stain coming off the fretboard. I had Guitar Center try to fix it but they couldn’t and I had to return it.
It is a shame because it was a great sounding guitar.
