The installation instructions are very unclear. I only realized at the end that I had installed several parts wrong. Oh my god, but there is no way to disassemble it again. I don’t have the strength. And I also found this thing difficult to disassemble when I moved recently. The main problem is that the installation and disassembly instructions are a mess, like a primary school student’s drawing homework

Piano sounds fantastic and comes with enough features that moves it a little beyond just an electric piano. Assembly was easy, however you may need a second person to help towards the end as the product is indeed heavy.

It plays absolutely wonderfully, it sounds wonderful, and comes with a handful of piano fonts that lets you vary it up. It’s sturdy and does not feel cheap. Just an all around great electric piano.

Great sound, but in less than a year it doesn’t turn on anymore and the after market service is TERRIBLE. I really took care of this instrument but now is worthless. Never buying Casio again

Having no musical instruments, got this as a new hobby to get me off my screens. It’s half the cost of a laptop from the popular tech company named after a fruit!

I went with white even though it’s not a popular option since I had decided that my work room furniture is going to be all white. Black would have annoyed me for years to come even if it would be easier to resell later on.

This really is a piece of furniture. It does not take up too much space but it helps to make space for it. It’s very enjoyable to play on. I have no basis for comparison and probably spent too much on this new hobby but it’s a pleasure to use whether I’m spending time learning piano, just having fun stringing up random melodies, or needing an indoor escape from digital screens.

I trained as a classical pianist at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, and later at University of Toronto, so I play at a professional level (or I did, a career change meant I hadn’t played in a while.) My main concern was to have a digital piano that was responsive to touch and had weighted keys.

To make a long story short, I have been thrilled with the Casio from day one. I’m sure I’m not using half of the features, but fyi, this model gives you all that you’d expect from the digital-online era, such as ability to record, a built-in metronome and various mixtures of piano tone from bright to mellow, and emulation of various concert halls… I just love the way it feels. The keys aren’t plasticky, they feel almost like old fashioned ivory keys. Because music is in my blood, bones and soul, this purchase has been my best on Amazon…

One thing: it was tricky to put together, although I’m a klutz at such tasks to begin with. You might want to have a practical putting-things-together type friend to help you with assembly. Thank you, Casio!

I have been playing piano since I was 8 years old. In 2005 I was in a wreck and became wheelchair bound and unable to play anymore. Since then, I have missed the experience of playing so much. I haven’t played at all in all these years. My husband surprised me with this Casio Px 870 and it is wonderful. I am having to learn all over again and am now in my sixties. But, I am enjoying every moment of this experience. The sound is wonderful and the feel of the keys is so much like a regular piano; I can barely tell a difference. I am so delighted with this instrument and to have playing music back in my life!

This is my first piano and I have no experience playing. Thus I do not have anything to compare it to. I choose the Casio PX870 because I wanted my money to go towards quality of the core piano functionality and not towards bells and whistles.

The quality of the actual piano keyboard seems great. The keys look, feel, and play great. While I do not pretend to have a great ear I feel like the tonal quality is very good.

The quality of the cabinet/stand is just OK. It is flat pack laminated fiber board. Of course I expected this and I was not surprised. It is not unpleasant to look at and I do not mind it in my living room. The plastic caps provided to cover the recessed screws and bolts where absolute garbage though. Very thin plastic that was warped and torn and did not fit. Of course this is a trivial detail that can be fixed for probably $1-2 at a hardware store. Just a bit annoying.

The foot pedal bar is just a bit raised off the floor and thus causes a noise as it bends down and hits the hardwood floor when I apply pedal pressure. This probably would not be a problem with a carpet. This may be uneven floors in a old home but the actual piano is stable so I suspect its not the floors. It is easily addressed by a thin shim under the pedals.

The USB port will not charge my old 4th gen iPad. This ipad is around 5 years old now and I had intended on keeping it on the music stand as a dedicated device for the piano. It would have been nice to be able to leave it plugged into the piano and not have to worry about battery charge. I thought this meant the USB port was not providing power of any sort but this is not true. It can power my iPhone just fine. I realize the primary purpose of this port is a USB thumb drive to record to. The USB ports are annoying to get to. It would have been nice to have them more accessible.

All in all I am very pleased with the purchase. My complaints here are mostly nit picking mixed with a bit of snobbishness. The piano itself is great and thats the most important part.

Sounds, looks and feels really good to my beginner’s ears, eyes and fingers. The pedals are slightly to the smaller side, but that haven’t been a big issue so far. Though I have to admit I got this px-870 for a special price on Black Friday. The regular price 1400 CAD would have been out of my budget.
Assembling instructions were a bit confusing, but I downloaded PDF version of the manual from the Casio website where all the details are mentioned clearly.
Putting it all together by myself alone took about two hours without hurry, though next time I could possibly do it in 20-30 mins. The components are somewhat heavy (the piano weighs about 20 kg and the stand likewise), so it would have been much easier if I had an extra pair of hands. But it was doable for one person too.
Also I put a thin rubber yoga mat under the console to avoid contact with wooden floor and make it more stable. Seems working well.

I love music, and I like playing around with multiple instruments. I’m no good on piano, but this fits the bill. I don’t have to worry about it being beside a baseboard heater. A real piano would take up too much room, and the extreme temperature and humidity changes in my home would be hard on a piano.
This unit sounds excellent to me. It doesn’t have the fake sound of my much older and cheaper keyboard. It resonates, and it seems like there’s a lot of technology at work, to try and convince you that it’s trying to be a real piano. They keys are also very nice, and weighted.
Assembly was slow. Be careful, as the instructions are hard to read, even for a technical person. Also have someone help you out, because it’s awkward to assemble due to its weight.

ADORE this piano. For years I have tried to get by with keyboards and controllers after growing up with an upright acoustic piano. Searching for the feel/sound but never being satisfied so I havnt played much. Since getting this electric piano I have been playing the piano all the time! It feels and sounds sooooo realistic to the point I havnt even messed with the app to check out all the other features. My only complaint is the pedals dont match the quality of the keyboard but still… theyre better than other pianos/controllers I have used. Feel like I have a REAL piano or mini grand in my house now!

Great instrument for the money. We wanted an actual small baby grand piano, but we have forced air heat and we were told we would have to tune it 5 times a year at about $400 per tuning. Not ok. It sounds great and the keys are weighted like a real piano. Much music built in, and you can add more. My son has been taking lessons for 2 years and loves it. It doesn’t have the charisma or furniture status of real baby grand, so if that’s what you want look to Yamaha or Baldwin. But you will spend a lot more. A lot. O, and the directions for assembly are bad, so look to You Tube. Lots of assembly videos there. Best of luck.

    Very happy with this purchase.
Absolutely in love with how it feels.
For me, a great beginner piano.
I have an ear for music and to me, sounds as good as a grand with the compact design, I couldn’t be happier.

    Love to recommend it!
