As an old op-1 OG user I love all updates, new tape modes, velocity keyboard works pretty fine, the quality of most parts is better. My opinion — worth it.

I’m not gonna lie, using it can be inspiring because it’s kind of like a game, it’s well constructed, and it’s extremely portable with a long battery life. But there are no features that this has that justify a $2000 price tag. Honestly, I would probably have kept it if it were $1200 or less, but even that would be too high. The workflow is cryptic, and mistakes are incredibly frustrating because there’s no clear way to get back to where you were. Backups are a chore. I’m sure some people know how to use this very well, but I’ll stick with my Elektron boxes, thank you.

This thing just has the esthetics and that’s all, the competition like Akai and novation have much better products and for a lot cheaper, so don’t get fooled by this toy, it won’t serve you any purpose whatsoever, it is literally just an “expensive toy”. everyone goes on and on about the price and the lack of stuff its able to do for them? who are you and what do you actually want? its amazing, the amount of things you can do in a such a small package is incredible and the learning curve is very small. I Love it and I’m not a TE fanatic at all. Portable, capable and outright fun

everything you can do with this toy you can do it with a daw and midi controller BUT is not as fun as using this.

this is an incredible device that i will have and use for the rest of my life. there’s a lot of negative criticism of this device out here, most of it is not well-informed. if it’s good enough for hans zimmer and bon iver, then im sorry but anyone in an amazon review who said it’s not a pro-level device is sadly missing out on it’s potential, or frankly mistaken.

TLDR; If you already own an OG OP-1, the differences between them may not be worth shelling out for the Field. If you don’t already an OG OP-1, get the Field.

Das OP-1 Field sieht zwar aus, wie ein Kinderspielzeug, ist jedoch ein amtlicher und vollwertiger polyphoner Synthesizer mit eingebautem virtuellen Tape-recorder. Wertig gearbeitet und umwerfender Sound (mit Kopfhörern). Den einzigen Punkt zur Verbesserung hätte ich beim USB-C Interface: der OP-1 kann leider nur vom Audio-Interface (In meinem Fall Focusrite Scarlett) aufnehmen, jedoch nicht den OP1-Sound über USB-C ausgeben. Das ist anscheinend aber so gewollt. Kleiner Pro-Tipp: in den Systemeinstellungen kann man die Anschlagsdynamik einschalten ( diese ist im Auslieferungszustand deaktiviert).
