Love this kit , mainly these days I’m a Gretsch guy . I got my 1st Tama set in 1984 , a Swingstar Kit. I still own a brand new Superstar Classic today .I needed a small portable fast set up kit to bring to rehearsals or play smaller tight spot venues . I had owned a Club Jam Kit 2 years ago and sold them during the pandemic . I purchased this Club Jam Flyer and I have to say I’m impressed ! Tama is well known for its great strong hardware . What I dislike is the floor tom should have a stand mount which I plan on upgrading in place of the legs . I highly recommend this kit for the gigging drummer or beginner !

Sturdy product for price. Tuned up and setup quick. Sounds great. Add-ons needed. No snare stand and it’s only 10” so most snare stands won’t fit it. You can buy a smaller stand or better yet buy Tama/Gibraltar tom mount and clamp it to your hi-hat or boom stand. Can’t beat price, but you will get sucked in to add-ons (clamp for snare, ride cymbal arm attachment etc.)

Just look closely at the information, there is no high hat, no kick base pedal, and no snare mount. Good product for the price, but needs way more additional items to make a complete drumset.

I had a Tama Swingstar 7 piece set that I had to part with due to my living situation. That being said, it had a crisp, clean sound second to none. Perfect for any application

Just got this kit
– Set it up easily
– Great hardware – with the exception of the snare stand, which sucks.
– I know some have complained about the Kick Drum Legs. I play jazz, so they are more than sturdy enough for my purposes.
– The sound with the factory heads was very thin with a lot ring – in part because they were tuned very high.
What I changed
– Heads
– – Toms to Remo Coated ambassadors
– – Kick drum to the Remo Coated Emperor
– Lowered tuning
– Put a patch of moon jell on the Reso head of the snare to reduce the ring
– Tried using my normal snare stand – It was too big for the 10″ snare that comes with the kit.
– The snare that comes with the kit is lame. It has a telescoping arm and then two arms that swing out. The problem is that when you put the snare on the stand the arms that swing out move away from the drum. The fix is putting two thick rubber bands that connect each of the two arms that swing to the telescoping arm so that stay in place when you mount the snare.
I’m very happy with the sound now.
– My regular kit is a Gretsch New Classic Maple. So clearly, this little kit isn’t going to deliver the same sound quality. That said, for small venues, my bandmates love it. They like that it cuts through without being too loud, and our Upright Bass Player loves that the Kick Drum doesn’t sit tonally in his space.
Here’s how I pack for gigs (3 pieces)
1 – big heavy-duty rolling suitcase 30″ tall, 20″ wide, 12″ deep
– – all the hardware (high hat, cymbal stand, bass pedal, drum throne stand, tom mount, kick drum legs
– – snare drum and both toms
– – I use pieces cut to fit from a yoga matt to separate hardware from drums and drums from drums
2 – Cymbal Bag
– – 20 ” ride
– – high hat cymbals
– – drum throne seat
3 – 14″ soft drum case
– – Kick drum
