This is the perfect gear to start out in electric drumming. Not a repalcement for an acoustic kit!!! The feel is not the same. You can learn your basics and be super portable. You can add real pedals to learn how to work your feet. The only reason i returned it bcause there was not enough pads for what I needed and the sound are not as good as more expensive pads. The entry level price is was make this a perfect fit for any begener.

Clean, usable sounds PLUS it is a MIDI trigger!

Moved from Laptop performances to using hardware onstage so I wanted something affordable and useful…

    This is it!

I use the sounds in my productions now, very usable kicks, claps, Hi-hats, and snares!

The only MIDI message it sends or receives is 0x99 (NOTE_ON).
The MIDI plug is for output only. You must use the USB-D plug to trigger notes from your PC/tablet/phone.

None of the control knobs or buttons will produce any MIDI output, only just the 4 pads and 2 foot pedals themselves.

The USB-D plug can both send and receive, but again, the only MIDI signal it responds to is 0x99 (NOTE_ON).
You can indeed trigger the KTMP1 internal sounds from an Android smartphone, but ONLY for the 5 notes that are currently configured onto the 4 pads plus pedal. And unfortunately, the only way to choose those 5 notes is to manually press the up/down “SELECT” buttons on the unit.

The 0x99 (NOTE_ON) signal DOES include the velocity volume, but there is no aftertouch, breathing, reverb, or any other parameters either transmitted or received by the KTMP1. Refer to the last page of the 10-page User Manual for a complete “MIDI Implementation Chart”. It’s not super obvious, but it does spell out that NOTE_ON is the only MIDI capability that KTMP1 can send and receive.

Also, be aware that the unit HAS NO MEMORY, so every time you turn it on you have to press buttons several dozen times just to get it going with the sounds you prefer. And if you don’t use it for about 5 minutes, the unit automatically shuts off and loses all your settings! Then you have to stop everything and press several dozen button presses all over again, to get the sounds setup again. ENORMOUS PAIN, every time you sit down and turn it on. MIDI control change messages have no effect, so you have to enter your entire sound configuration manually by hand every time you turn it on just to get started.

If all your samples and drum sounds are already working on your computer, tablet, or smartphone, then the KTMP1 can trigger those sounds with a simple NOTE_ON message through either USB or MIDI-to-USB cable. Nothing more.

I keep it next to my desk as a fidget spinner toy. Nifty hand drum for background riffing throughout the day.

Is not a drum set, mostly is to complete a drum set or to add percussion to a band, the sound is very very good, stereo, even it has pan for each sound, you can put 4 different sounds at the same time, if you add pedals for hi hat and kick drum sound awesome,

Not as complex as most pads out, but it give you an amazing range of FX that does the job just as well. The unit is sturdy and durable. It’s like quality product for an affordable price. I purchased two of them, and I’m completely satisfied. I would get this, as long as they keep it at the price point the have it at.

I love this drumpad for hand drumming. It has decent sounds and decent build quality. However the midi features are really flawed and there is no technical support whatsoever. This will not work with most drum vsts and software etc. Because it only outputs o zero millisecond note lengths. This causes it to not be able to trigger a large portion of drum samples and vsts etc. There is no way of changing the note length so you are almost limited to using just the onboard sounds. I hope they can fix this but it’s been out for a while and no support exists. Can’t recommend this for use with and type of midi devices whether software vsts or USB midi etc.

I have owned the Alesis Perc-Pad for several months now, I needed some fun sounds in our cover band and it did the trick for awhile. I saw that this had just come out so took a chance and ordered one. First off the sounds are great, every bit as good as the Alesis unit however there are 25 more here ! This pad has 50 vs the Alesis 25 and they are all usable and really open up the scope of color you can add to your drumming ! I use mine in combination and as an add on to my Acustic drums, its a lot of fun and really ads needed color and cool sounds to some of the disco and funk songs my band covers ! If your considering the Alesis parcpad..Don’t, buy this instead, 50 sounds vs 25, the ability to trigger your kick drum which the aleis doesn’t do, Midi control and USB hookup to trigger anything you want from a laptop ! All for the same price as the Alesis ! My Percpad is now on Ebay as this unit is built just as well but has twice the feature set for the same exact amount of money ! Great job KAT ! I love it ! By the way it uses the same mount as the alesis also so no issues there, its standard.

Great unit for the price point, sounds are great, easy to use. The only small downside is that the unit will shut off by itself somewhere between 30-40 minutes. I have tried 2 units and they both did the same thing. I’m still trying to figure out if that shut off only happens if you don’t strike a pad for that length of time. I kept one unit and I feel it’s not a big deal to just hit the on button, if it happens.
