John Howard Bayless –
Great book to add to my repertoire.
John M –
Fun cello repertoire for tenor banjo!
Wish there were more books like this out there!
Christopher Webb –
I play these on a Mandola tuned CGDA but normally play Mandolin (GDAE) so the tabs are very helpful. Print is clear and easy to read, and the CD is great both to listen to and as a guide. When will 4-6 come out ?

This was a great idea and a joy to have. Perhaps you are a seasoned musician, just starting to dabble on the tenor banjo, and want something classy-cal-like to help you get used to the fretboard– this is great for that. Perhaps you’re a long time player of odd instruments who wants to bring something fancy to the party– this is also great. Perhaps you’re just a classical music enthusiast who is wondering just how the Cello Suites would sound on a tenor banjo– buy it for the CD!
A clever arrangement that is just fun to play through and listen to. If you even plan to be in the same room as a tenor banjo at some point in the future, get this book.
Occasional Thinker –
Exquisite. That’s all I really want to say about the music coming from the CD supplied with this book of tunes. Three kinds of banjo, various tunings. Inspirational book. Three cheers! A cheer for the banjo. A cheer for Bach. A cheer for MacKillop.
sharon –
very nice book
Mark Rogers –
I have played classical music on tenor banjo before but the arrangements were always difficult… Rob has done an excellent job on this collection and series of arrangements. It also includes his CD and music in tablature for those who cannot read music. Excellent job and if you have not ventured into Classical on the TB yet, give it a try…it sounds very nice..
West Portal Historic Society –
If, like me, you are struggling with learning the Cello Suites, this is an excellent format. I have some other tabs of parts of
the suites I’ve been trying on the fiddle, viola, and mandolin and these tabs are the best, clearest, easiest to read yet.
The CD that came with it is lovely to listen to. Even though the three banjos (tenor, gourd, and cello) have not much sustain,
the recording sounds like musical raindrops. You can use these tabs for cello, viola, mandolin, mandola, and of course four string or tenor banjo.

Page turns are a serious issue here! The font could be MUCH smaller to facilitate page turns.
