Acquistato per sostituire il bocchino in dotazione al clarinetto da studio, mi facilita molto l’emissione del suono, abbinato a ancia 2,5.

    Ah, what a wonderful mouthpeice!

This Vanden mouthpeice is a fine purchase, amazing! Like me and many others, I thought, “what’s the difference between my beginning mouthpeice and this?”. The more advanced mouthpeice are slightly larger near the tip, allowing the reed to vibrate better. When I played my first note on this beauty… I was blown away. My tone was so much better and the same for my articulation.

My daughter rents her Bb clarinet, 9th grade concert band. She had to get a new clarinet, Yamaha and it came with a terrible mouth piece. This one was overnighted and she quickly tried it out before school…worked wonders! Sometimes rentals come with decent mouth pieces, but if it’s super cheap and light weight….beware!

My son is beginning clarinet this year. I purchased this mouthpiece based on YouTube videos that said things like, ” A good band teacher knows that replacing the mouthpiece can sometimes have the same effect as buying a better instrument.” Obviously, if a person doesn’t know how to play an instrument, a better instrument doesn’t help. However, things can be made easier for beginners. To quantify things I will say that just by replacing the mouthpiece, the difficulty of making a “clarinet” sound went from a 10 out of 10 down to an 8 in difficulty. For people starting out… that sort of help can make all the difference.

The cost was high, but here is what I told myself as I bought it. $50 is the cost for single tutoring sessions, and lessons these days. $100+ is the cost of 2 or 3 lessons. If changing this mouthpiece keeps my son playing, or makes it easier to play then it is (in the long run) equivalent to two or three lessons.
