Item was as described. Packaging was good. Everything was well cushioned. Came with many accessories though I would also recommend buying a pull through cleaning separately. The one that came with it didn’t work very well or perhaps I am not sure how it can work.
Overall very satisfied for the price. Helped me start my saxophone journey in an affordable way. You can find sound reviews of it in YouTube. ( not by me)

This is a complete set of everything you need to start playing saxophone. You get the saxophone, reeds, carrying case and other accessories including a stand. I have played clarinet for many years and wanted to try saxophone. This is a great starting instrument for beginners. It’s not $1000 quality, but it is good enough to practice with. I love the red color and gold trim. Overall this saxophone looks great. The buttons are easy to reach. The mouthpiece and reeds work. The saxophone plays good. Remember, this is a saxophone under $500. So quality is average and great for beginners. I am still learning how to play, so I can’t say the squeaky sounds are from the quality. Get this saxophone if you want a great beginner saxophone that is everything you need to start.

So here is my background. I used to play clarinet years ago and am currently an advanced alto recorder player. I ordered this sax and tried to cancel but it was too late. I also ordered a used Bundy AS500. The Slade showed up first. It seemed pretty decent for the $. I also ordered some 2.5 Rico reeds. i was surprised how much trouble I was having getting it to play. When the Bundy arrived, as soon as I played if the first time it was much easier. You could hear more sound and less wind noise. Maybe the Slade just needs a better mouthpiece. It tuned out the the Bundy had damage that was not disclosed so I returned. Next I bought a brand new Jupiter JAS -767. New old stock on Ebay I found for $ 500. The Jupiter plays even better than the Bundy I am guessing because is new. If you are shopping used on Ebay spend more and get something newer or tested. If you buy something that needs to be re-padded, that can cost $ 5-600.

If you’re on the fence about getting this horn, get it. Its really nice and plays better than my 2000 dollar saxophone that I’ve had for a long time. In fact I’m not ashamed to say this will be my main horn from now on. The accessories it comes with are perfect for a beginner HOWEVER; I’d rather get a box of vandoren reeds than use the ones that come with it. The mute is literally useless. THE CASE IS TERRIBLE GET A NEW ONE PLEASE. One complaint about the horn itself however, is the craftsmanship on the neck tenon. Its extremely uneven however I’m okay with that for this price. Its perfectly fine. The keys feel wonderful the horn is very freeblowing and the pads seal well. Overall an amazing horn for the price. Id recommend this for anyone who’s budget is under 700 dollars. FIVE STAR FOR SURE

This was a gift for my grandson to use in band & he loves it. It was a great price especially for a beginner’s instrument and far less expensive than monthly rental fees.

My instrument did not come tuned I have to pay extra money for it to be tuned very very un impressed with this.

I got this because of a great review by Jay Metcalf from BetterSax (go watch on youtube).
Let’s be clear, this is exactly what it looks like. It’s a $250USD saxophone. Maybe it’s closer in value to a $600USD though.
If you’re looking at this because you want to start playing the sax then go ahead and buy this, you won’t regret it.
There are lots of negative messages out there: “nothing from amazon is ok”, “save at least $1k”, “get a second-hand student sax” etc.
This instrument plays. It’s not a toy. It looks great. It sounds pretty damn good!
There are some negatives of course:
– The reeds it comes with are pretty much unplayable. Go buy some Vandoren reeds for $5 each and put these ones in the bin.
– The large pull-through cloth broke the second time I used it. I replaced it with a $20 one from my local music store.
– My low C and Eb keys (right hand pinky keys) were not working. They had popped loose during shipping or something. I had to disassemble them and re-fit the springs after watching some tutorials.
If you are happy to spend another $20 or so on better cleaning gear, reeds etc, and you’re happy to spend some time tinkering if anything is loose then you’ll love this instrument.

I am writing a review to show my thanks towards this company for providing a quality beginner instrument. My kid was able to play this instrument with no problem. It sounds good, looks good, and is a reasonable price (under $300 bucks). Slade included all the basics for a new learner to start with like gloves, cleaning supplies, and reeds. Thanks again.
