Shane Chasse –
I’ve been favoring short scale basses for about 5 years now. Coming from a standard long scale bass (34”) I could never find a set of strings where the sound of the E string made me happy. I’ve tried a lot of different short scale sets from many different manufacturers (DR, GHS, D’Addario, Rotosound, Thomastik, Dunlop and Fender) both roundwounds and flats. I found the E either had a different tone from the rest of the set, or just didn’t have the low end you expect to hear from it. GAME OVER now that I’ve tried the Ernie Ball set. Tension is great and the strings are very well balanced. The E string sounds punchy and tight. I’ve gotten to the point where the set has broken in and they sound fantastic. Highs have dulled a bit, leaving an overall sound that is tight and punchy and cuts through the mix nicely. Band mates say the bass sounds awesome and the group has never sounded better. I have a short scale bass with flats, this set stays on the other.

Always love Ernie Ball. Great strings for my bass, always comfortable

I have fitted this set to a Gretsch Junior short-scale bass in preference to the lighter strings supplied from the factory. Because they are heavier gauge this has required some adjustments to the action and the truss rod, but the results are more than worth it — an equally clear but far deeper and more resonant tone throughout.

Come on time

David Wood –
These have been my first choice for 30 years. Great value and construction.

Extra-long = diapason supérieur à 87cm
Zwarte Davi –
These are quality strings, sound awesome but the E and A are not long enough to be applied to the smaller Glarry brand practice basses.

For the first time in 45 years of playing bass I broke a string. I hate changing bass strings since I personally prefer the sound of old strings. Ordered these to replace the broken string and they sounded great! In 45 more years when I break another string I will definitely order these again!

My fave strings. Treat me well.

As all bass players know, there are several outstanding brands to choose from these days. I’ve certainly tried more than my fair share. But I keep circling back to the Ernie Ball Slinky Bass Strings. I’m a big fan of the feel, warm tone, durability and the price of these strings. I also appreciate how quickly these strings break in. They’re definitely worth a try!
