A nice kit for the basics, but the lack of a set of clave samples is a huge oversight. Also missing is a far more comprehensive set of loops. Example: there’s no mambo.

So to start, the sounds in this library are fantastic! I have had a few ideas for some tracks that were calling for Latin percussion. Since purchasing the gear I would need was out of the question, I opted to search for a sound library instead. After a ton of research I had already settled on Superior Drummer 2.0, so I decided to look at this EZX pack.
It definitely does not disappoint, as a matter of fact I was quite blown away by how good everything sounds. The main instruments I was after you Conga’s, Bongo’s, Timbales, and Shakers; this has that and many more. This pack works with and requires EZDrummer or Superior Drummer 2.0; SP2.0 maintains backwards compatibility with all existing EZX packs, and adds the higher quality SDX packs.
I know I am not very good at using my MIDI keyboard to do drum parts, so I use my Alesis DM10 Studio eKit and simply assign the pieces I want to the various triggers, and record them that way. Usually I’ll go back and add in single cymbal or shakers with the keyboard. I do not know if there’s a way to automatically map the pieces to an eKit, I honestly have not looked; SP2.0 makes it very easy to simply assign them using it’s “Learn” key under the MIDI Mapping.
So to buy this just remember you must have EZDrummer or SP2.0 as well, this is an “add-on pack” to those, not a stand alone product. With that said, I was very happy with my purchase, everything was received a day or two earlier than expected, the sounds are fantastic, I will absolutely be purchasing more Toontrack products in the future. If you need a good set of Latin percussive sounds and you don’t have the time/money/gear/room to record your own, take a serious look at this pack. On Toontrack’s site they have some great examples as well as on YouTube. Hope it helps…

Wow what a disappointment.
The sounds that are there are ok at best and very little options, no sticks to speak of, and the usual SKIMPY midi offering that seems to be the earmark of Toontrack. I needed these sounds but this purchase made me wish I had found another drummer rather than Toontrack. 🙁

another for the drums in the studio, great latin sounds very easy to use i recommend for the latin side of life in composing simple load then get the code then off making great beats
Johanson –
Great sound sample from toontrack. I like their products a lot. Great congas sound and much more percussion sound…I recommend it

Arrived earlier than expected, and the service was very generous. Installation to EZDrummer 2 from the disc was also fairly quick and easy to get running.
The product is a great extension to making fantastic music by spicing the music with a bit of percussion. It also mixes itself very well in different music genres besides latin, like progressive metal, acoustic, gypsy jazz, flamenco jazz, bossa nova and many more.
To any musician and composer that wants to enhance the percussion of their creativity (who also use something like a Digital Audio Workstation to bring out more from this extension library) I would highly recommend this product.

Sounds good, some nice grooves, great addition to my Ez drummer two, especially for the price.

The samples are great quality and really extensive. But the midi are far too limited to be useful. I was hoping for Carlos Santana-level percussion, and ended up with a beatnick bongo beat. Bring on more midi!
nyrlo –
I needed those percussion parts and this library didn’t dissapoint. Right out of the box grooves with exceptional sonic quality. Very nice and at a great value.

i’m currently running a Mac with logic Pro, and a presonus studio 8 fire station. I decided to get easy drummer when superior drummer came out because I’m cheap LOL. Easy drummer works incredible and is very easy to use, no pun intended. I bought this expansion because I love Latin percussion, and I was not disappointed. Out of many of the tune track expansions, I would have to say this one is one of the best and most useful unlike some of their others. If you like good-quality sounding Latin percussion for your productions I do not have the cash to hire someone, this is the ticket.
