Good stand until the Ez height adjuster went sticky and literally fell apart. In the photo you can see that the release handle is no longer there. Now is going to the landfill. Went onto Hercules site and selected support but this does not come up so how to contact the company ????

I’ve had this a couple months now. Portable, easy to setup, the handle for height is a charm. Heavy enough to take some kickin’ at a gig, but easy enough to carry.

Very sturdy! My beagle runs around the room and I’m confident he will not be able to accidentally knock it over should he trip over it! I even have an orchestra lamp attached on the top.

I have been fairly happy with this stand, except for two issues: 1. The lip of the desk is rough and frequently scratches my instrument when I accidentally bump it against the stand. There should be a soft protector cap over the lip. I am trying to come up with some kind of makeshift protector, but the position of the two page holders makes this difficult. 2. The stand has a somewhat complex clutch that allows the three sections of the stand to be increased in height simply by pulling up. To decrease the height, you must squeeze a handle. This is fine. However, squeezing the handle does not allow the bottom section of the three-tube stand to be lowered until the top section has been brought all the way down. For many people this would be fine, but I attach a tray to the upper section, so the only way for me to lower the stand is first to remove the tray. I frequently need to make small height adjustments and often I find that I need to shorten the lower section. I am working around this by keeping the lower section well below the normal position I would use, and thus getting most of my height from the upper section. Still, it is annoying that no release is provided to let me manually adjust the lower tube’s height without first closing the upper tube. This is a somewhat unusual situation (most people probably do not attach a tray to the upper part of the stand, and many people don’t need to adjust their stand after it is set up). Still, it is annoying for me. But my main complaint is the scratchy desk lip. This was a pretty expensive stand and I don’t think it has quite the quality level I’ve come to expect from Hercules.
UPDATE [10/3/13]: To deal with the scratchy lip problem, I took a piece of 1/4″ clear PVC surgical tubing and sliced it open lengthwise (by sticking a knife into the end and slowly pulling the tubing against the blade). I cut out little notches to bypass the page holders, and also to allow the tubing to bend 90 degrees at the corners. I fastened the two ends using small binder clips and then removed the binder clip handles. I’ve been using this arrangement successfully for several months. I must occasionally push down the binder clips and the tubing itself when it loosens. No more dings on my instrument!
