This unit is supposed to be made from solid poplar or alder wood but the one I received was clearly particle board with a walnut stain. I wanted a solid walnut unit. Apparently need to go to high quality music store and get the 804m though not sure if that will make a difference. Other than material not being correct it seemed to work as expected.

Dieses Metronom ist super vom Klang her und sieht sehr edel aus. Für Leute, die auf Qualität achten eine super Alternative zu teuren Produkten aus dem Musikhaus.

The finish on the product is beautiful. I know there are complaints that the product looked cheap, but I actually think it looks nice. It works great and I love the bell feature. I would recommend this product and I’m glad I ordered it.

I ordered the mahogany wood metronome. I received the plastic mahogany metronome. I was charged for the more expensive wood metronome. When I called 8th Street Music, they said they didn’t have a sku for the plastic metronome. I was asked if I could consider keeping the plastic one. He mentioned again that there wasn’t a sku for this item; I got the impression he wanted me to keep the plastic one in order to fix his sku predicament. I returned the plastic one and then got the mahogany wood metronome.

Alrighty received what I was hoping for – a solid wood, mechanical metronome, that I could hear above my piano playing.

Hab auch die modernen Ticke Tacke. Aber dieser war mir wichtig, aus doppeltem Grund:
    1. Schöne Erinnerung ans jugendliche Musizieren und Lernen eines Instrumentes
    2. Beruhigend, mit jedem Schwingen des Pendels
Die modernen können mehr. Ein Wittner muss trotzdem sein!

This is pretty good. Just what I was looking for, but not quite as well-made as I was expecting. I am comparing this one to memories of the one my grandmother had and that we used for lessons. This one does the job, looks very similar to those old ones. But it doesn’t quite have the heft of the original. The pendulum and the slider are much more flimsy and delicate. The wood enclosure is lighter weight as well. IT will do the job, looks great, and it seems like it will last. But it’s definitely a product of the modern age.

I like this Metronome far better than electronic metronomes because I have gone through two electronic metronomes that for some reason just stopped working; so, I decided to go to the old method, and I am far more satisfied with this old style wind up Metronome. WORD OF WARNING: The Metronome slides from the thumb and fingers when picking it up from the top; so, I used Shoegoo for glue, and I glued a strip of velcro on both sides; the velcro was only the spiky part, and I threw the soft velcro away; now, when I pick the metronome up from the top it will not slide through my thumb and finger; otherwise, it is best to pick up the metronome by grabbing it in a palmed fashion. Also, I had some little rubber circles that glue on to the bottom of electronic products to stop them from sliding around; so I glued a little rubber circle on each one of the feet of the Metronome in order to stop it from sliding off of smooth surfaces because it will slide off on a smooth surface! You do not want to drop this precious item; also, do not wind it up very much so that at the end of each use, you can slide the gauge to beat very fast so that it will completely wind down; thus, removing tension on the spring; also, it has a very nice look to it when it is not being used compared to that of some ugly electronic gadget. The sound on this Metronome is a good loud solid wood nock.

I bought this because it reminded me of my piano teacher from so long ago. It is beautiful, with a mahogany finish, and it works! winds nicely as needed, but I haven’t needed to. I use it occasionally when accompanying my son with his violin. But mostly I just look at it. Brings back great memories.
