Bought these for my girlfriend. She had a pair of mountain hardware gloves before and loved them. These are a little big on her but very warm and she loves the lanyard system too keep them on her arms. She feels like a little with strings on her mittens. But appreciates the fact she can shake them off but have them handy and not in a snow pile when she wants to put them back on.

These are the gloves to get if you want a rugged looking glove that doesn’t look like you just came back from the ski resort. Even though you just did.
The leather trim simply looks great. However, the leather feels pretty thin and soft so you don’t want to actually use these for hard manual labor like carrying wood, fighting off brush, construction activity, etc. For that, you want a cheaper, tougher glove that you can beat up and replace regularly without having to take out a loan.
All the features you could possibly want are in the glove except for it isn’t touchscreen capable which is difficult to achieve in such a thick glove anyway.
-Sizing is true. I like my gloves snug and typically get a medium which worked well for me here.
-Goretex waterproofing works well. Running under water for a long time produced no intrusions. The exterior fabric shed most of the water before it could even get to any goretex membrane.
-Soft inner material is comfortable.
-Elastic bungee wrist strap works well.
-A cuff strap to tighten things down is a common but important feature.
-I love that there is a clip to lock the 2 gloves together for storage.
-Tiny reflective strip on 4th finger which I guess could help with safety but is probably too small practically.
-There is a fabric loop on the inner wrist area which helps you pull on the glove. This is a nice feature I haven’t seen in other gloves.
-The 4th finger has a pull off fingertip pocket at the reflective strip which helps you take off your gloves.
-A feature I’ve never seen before is a forearm strap which you slip your hand into before you put on your gloves. So if you take off your gloves, they still hang onto your arm and don’t fall and get lost. Pretty cool.
JustMyOpinion –
It’s June here in NY so I can’t attest to how well these will work in the winter, but having been through a LOT of gloves, I have really high hopes for these.
My main uses will be for snow blowing (when your hands often get cold simply because you are not moving them much and gripping the handles slows blood flow) and for back country mid-winter hiking. I like that they are thick enough to do the job, yet supple enough to grip the handles of the blower and trekking poles.
Construction is very well made. The leather is beautifully soft and the stitching is tight. You can’t beat Gore-tex for breathability and it holds up to a beating. The Primaloft Gold insulation with Cross Core with aerogel technology is the key here along with the high quality Pittards leather…when it comes to extreme-weather clothing, you get what you pay for.
They have thought of everything…including a strap to keep them from dropping when you take them off, to a loop to help you pull them back on. There’s a toggle to make the end snug so no snow gets inside. The only thing I wish was different is the little clip that you can use to snap them together for storage. It’s plastic and likely will break over time (between cold and general use). It’s not enough to knock off a star but a different attachment system would make these perfect for me.
I’d say I can’t wait for winter to get here, but that would be a lie. But I DO know that when it comes, my hands will be more comfortable than in years gone by. If I have any experiences (good or bad) that warrant it, I’ll return to update my review.
JustMyOpinion –
First, a correction – the Amazon description says 100% nylon, but the outer leather is actually Pittards goat leather, which lasts forever.
Also one concern – For so many years I was impressed with Gore-Tex, but then all the news came out about PFAS chemicals, ie forever chemicals.
Almost all Gore-Tex contain forever chemicals, I’m not sure what the test is, or how to find out what potentially dangerous chemicals are contained here. I have contacted the brand for more information.
Aside from that concern, these are really top of the line gloves.
However, if you’re looking for the warmest possible gloves, then you need to consider one of these three options:
-Mountain Hardwear Absolute Zero Gore-tex Down Mittems
-Marmot 8000 Meter Mitten
-Alti Mitts by Outdoor Research
These gloves are are certainly great down to about zero degrees, but if you’re looking to summit somewhere, or need the warmest possible gloves, you need a mitten with down insulation (this has synthetic insulation), so check out one of those three options.
However, these Mountain Hardware Adult Exposure 2 are pretty impressive. As I mentioned, the leather is durable. The straps and clips are thoughtfully designed. I like the styling quite a bit.
They’re water resistant, have decent dexterity and good grip, but they do not have any type of touchscreen finger on them.
The sizing is a bit tight. If you’re in between sizes you may want to round up. If you wear glove liners they would have to be pretty thin, or size up.
I do still have the concern about forever chemicals, but otherwise I’m pretty happy with them.
