I remembered with fondness my old Kenmoores, from a bygone era. Used to owned 2 pairs, a black and a brown. Those were well handcrafted and fit perfectly. Worn them for many years till the sole gave way.
Ordered a black Kenmoore recently (not made in the USA), the leather looked ‘plasticky’ and is way too stiff. Had been trying to ‘break in’ the shoes for a few weeks now but the new pair continues to remain very stiff, so much so that my metatarsal bones begin to hurt at the end of the workday. The inner stictchings below the ‘throat line’ were rough and hard. Perhaps not made with with love and care.
May try other brands, Allen Edmond or Johnston & Murphys for my next pair soon.

It’s good to see that Florsheim is still around and making an excellent quality wingtip shoe. All leather uppers, including the inside lining, and with a leather (replaceable) sole. I am retired and live six days a week in sneakers, but for church and special events, this is a sharp pair of shoes to have, and they will undoubtedly give me many years of excellent servive.

Looks solid, the size 12M fits as expected, properly package, took some time to get here, but likely worth it. Reasonable price point as well.

These shoes are terrific. So shiny with the traditional brogue details. They are well made and finished. I could probably purchased a more expensive shoe made of calfskin or something, but I don’t think I would have bought a better shoe than these. They are a tremendous value. I think these shoes can be worn, and enjoyed for a lifetime. Even the shoe bags are beautiful!

Once you break them in, they will be the best shoes that you have ever owned. My last pair were resolved numerous times and last over 15 years. Classic shoes that are worth it!

I really love the Longwing style of wingtip represented by these Florsheims, and I was happy to get them at nice price, but the creasing after a few months has been dis-heartening.

    The good –

Beautiful looking shoe, very masculine looking rough and tumble looking dress shoe.

Stitching at the welt, etc…. was very good, at least as good as the couple of pairs of Edmonds I own, and better than my Johnston and Murphy models.

Fit and Comfort was very good, no surprises in that regard. They are very true to size.

    The Bad –

They are full grain and the leather quality seems good, but the finial finish given to it is very high gloss, almost patent leather like, and shows bad creasing at bend points after a very few months. I know how to take care of shoes (I use shoe trees, brush and condition timely, etc….), but still the amount of creasing is surprising.

I bought a black pair, perhaps another color and finish like Scotch Grain would fair better.

I can make it work with very thin socks. Too much trouble to return. Shoes are excellent quality. This is a software problem with the seller – confused over sizes and software changed order; I had to re-set order a number of times and it was still wrong.

I have a pair of burgundy Florsheim Imperials from the 1980’s that still look great. (been re-soled a couple of times over the years.) Ordered the black eee from Amazon and a cognac pair directly from Florsheim. Good to see they still make a high quality shoe. The leather is very stiff (hence, the quality), so they need some time to relax and get broken in. Cedar shoe trees are highly recommended.

I have recently begun investing in quality shoes. I used to buy whatever was on sale at Macy’s (which, by the way, now carries some of the worst shoe brands and lines), and was so disappointed with some of my last purchases that I decided to make a leap of faith. I coworker of mind recommended Florsheim shoes, and I eventually gave them a try. I was amazed. These are solid, well-constructed, beautiful shoes. I purchased my extra wide, which turned out to be a little too big. I wear thicker socks and everything is nice and cozy. The comfort I have with these shoes is frankly unparalleled. I might put in some cushions for added help, but even without they are great for all-day wear.

I highly recommend these shoes. This is a quality brand.

Purchased in 2012 with the goal of wearing these shoes for special occasions. I probably have worn these shoes maybe 40 times in the past 2 years…usually for just a couple of hours.

Overall the fit was good. The shoes are sturdy and the main parts of the shoe are leather including the body of the shoe and the soles.

What has failed with the shoes is the areas around the heels and the edges where the laces go. These edges are not leather, and appear to be some sort of man-made leather-like material. It has failed in numerous places…the shiny part wears out and leaves white/grey areas that don’t match the leather in the shoe. Tried polish, but given the the material appears to be some sort of fabric, it doesn’t look good.

I would advise against buying these shoes until Florsheim upgrades to real leather for edging. You won’t like the way you look.
