I LOVED LOVED LOVED this coat, but I sadly had to return it. I originally tried this on in a petite small at Macy’s, and it was just a tad too small and out of stock in any other sizes. I ordered the regular small off of Amazon, hoping it would be just a bit bigger, but I honestly could not tell the difference between the petite small and regular small. Since it was out of stock everywhere I looked for bigger sizes, I am still looking for the perfect coat, but this would have been it for me had it fit.
The coat itself is nicely made. It is a little heavy compared to other down coats I looked at, but the fabric was heavier and sturdier. I loved the oversized hood, it looked fantastic. I really liked the separate zippered vest, as you can unzip the whole thing without having your coat completely hanging open. The zippers are metal, and catch a bit, but I think they would hold up well and the other good things about the coat outweigh this con in my opinion. The silhouette is the most flattering I have seen on a puffer coat. The length and snaps are great. Besides being a little heavier than I would have liked, as I was looking for an ultra light coat, I loved this coat SO much! I am sincerely disappointed I never managed to find one that fit.
One odd thing I noticed is that I had plenty of room in the vest part, especially in the regular small, but the rest of the coat itself was too tight, tighter than the vest inside it.

positive reviews are perplexing….. I rarely write a negative review but this coat was so “off” for a high end brand I just had to weigh in….

negative: fit was off… I am very thin on the top, I usually take a small, sometimes medium…. this medium coat was so tight I could not zip up….. ok, since I mentioned “zip”… zippers were just awful and very difficult to navigate…. it took me a total of 2 minutes after I took coat out of bag to decide… “NOPE”

positive: lovely color taupe that is hard to find…. taffeta fabric was pretty… silhouette on models was attractive in pictures…..but the negatives just ruined the coat overall…. back to the drawing board Cole Haan!! you can do better than this!

Now that I’ve had it for a year, it’s gone from three stars to four. I still think the hood is ridiculous, but it’s very practical and the jacket is extremely warm. Walking to work on the most bitterly cold days is a lot less unpleasant than it used to be.

The one I received was defective, so I may like it better once I get one that isn’t. One of the drawstrings for the hood doesn’t hold, which is a serious problem because the hood is enormous and won’t stay up unless you cinch them up. But I wore it before discovering this defect, so here are my initial thoughts:

    The good:
    – Flattering (with the hood down)
    – Very warm without being bulky; you still have a waist and don’t look like you’re wearing a sleeping bag as outerwear
    – The navy is a nice color
    – Windproof
    – Sleeves are reasonable length — don’t go over my hands
    – Does not restrict your stride when walking fast the way some long jackets do

    The bad:
    – The hood is just ridiculous up — it’s way too large and you look absurd; OTOH, it does leave lots of room for a hat/earmuffs/scarf
    – Cuffs of sleeves aren’t tight enough — on a windy day, they won’t keep the cold out and the cuffs of my gloves kept slipping out of the sleeves
    – Zippers sometimes catch on the fabric
    – Pockets aren’t large enough

Given the very low price ($110) and that it fits well overall, I will probably keep the replacement when it comes. But I think there’s a reason Cole Haan didn’t sell out of this at full price. This is not a $300-$450 coat.

I was hesitant to buy this because I was replacing my jacket I bought just last winter which was also CH because the zipper broke and when I went to take it to get it replace they told me they couldn’t because it was down. I took a chance because of the other reviews and I just loved the style. Here’s why I love this coat

1- the hood has cinches to stay on your head in the wind
2 – the zippers are much higher quality than my other CH jacket and there are two layers of them (1 shorter layer that I only do when I am going to be outside for a long time and then the longer later which is what I use on a day to day basis) these are then followed up by buttons which I haven’t used yet 2 months in
3 – I am 5ft 10in and a size 14 and the XL is comfortable for me even if I wear a sweater underneath. It also hits me at about the knees which I love because it keeps my legs dry and warmer in storms.
4 – this jacket is warm. I live in NH and work in Boston. This jacket is worn in snow, rain, sleet, brutal wind. I haven’t been cold yet.
5 – the pockets zip closed so you don’t lose things

I am sure there is more I am forgetting but I would recommend this jacket over others I have personally purchased in the past.

Nice coat, warm and comfy. I have been wearing it extensively. It’s gonna fall below the knee for people under 5’ 5”.

Where do I begin? Firstly picture shows shorter length. Secondly where the shirring on sides is, is not insulated and that part of your body gets cold when its cold out. Thirdly, the pocket zipper got stuck on the lining and I mean really stuck. Its metal so I had to actually cut the lining out to get my phone out of my pocket because the pull on the zipper broke when I tried to move up or down. Do yourself a favour don’t get this particular coat. Keep shopping

Ideal for cold weather. The underlining was warm. Overall the product was excellent and the price was even better. The hood was extremely big, but can be folded back a bit. I would recommend this product.

I loved this jacket, its mid-weight with down feathers. I like that the sleeves – they do not have the ribbed cuff but it’s still a nice narrower fit for a more stylish look and cold ridding up the sleeve could easily be solved with longer gloves. This is good for 20 degree weather but would not recommend for negative degree weather. It has pretty taffeta material that is water resistant. The only down side is that there is no detachable hood, but i love the coat so much i did not mind. Also the bib/vest attached is a nice feature – this is so you can wear the jacket unbuttoned if you are too hot and still have a stylish look. Has ribbed sides around the waist area so you do not appear bulky.

Color is awesome; love the zipper and buttons. The coat has something like an inner vest that zips up. Coat is soft with a great hood for really cold and snowy day. Zipper and snap buttons for extra security; the length is great for extra protection in the Colorado winter.
