Long story short: The motor blew out within a week and this thing now screeches like a banshee when turned on. Doesn’t work otherwise. View the videos in the other 1-star reviews and you’ll see what I mean. Go for something else! PLEASE!
I buy higher-end hairdryers perhaps once every few years — I tend to spend $150-250 on a blowdryer because I know it’ll last longer, it’s got all the necessary attachments, and it just plainly works faster on long hair like mine. I researched blowdryers to death and settled on this one because I was familiar with the brand, liked the bright color, and felt it checked off all the boxes.
Worked well the first few uses but the real test came up on a trip to Europe, where the hotel would have a blowdryer but nothing with the diffuser and wattage I really need. I packed this blowdryer and felt confident it would carry me through my elopement.
Wrong.
I pulled it out to use it and plugged it into the plug adaptor I’d bought special for the trip — it started SCREAMING and throttling. A distinct burning smell permeated the air. I shut it off and somehow figured perhaps I was using the adaptor incorrectly but, nope. Everything else worked with it. I had packed the blowdryer carefully as well; I have NEVER had issues traveling with expensive blowdryers until this one so I am 1000% positive it was not a packing issue: No pieces were missing or jangling around the belly of the dryer. Nothing was chipped or broken. So confusing.
I waited too long to return it because I was so hoping that if I gave it some rest from trying to use it, it would sort itself out (maybe something was caught up inside? maybe it had overheated? I don’t know) so I’m fresh out of $200.
Please do NOT buy this dryer. Absolute piece of garbage. Huge disappointment for a brand I saw showing itself all over Calabasas.

Al encenderla el motor sonaba como si estuviera barrido y al querer iniciar el proceso de garantía, me dijeron que no se podía porque la empresa que me la había vendido no era parte de Drybar ???? O sea que si tu producto falla, el proceso de garantía va a ser un dolor de cabeza.

I would say this is a tornado hair dryer. It just dried my hair so fast. My wife and I both satisfied with the product. Also the hair is not frizzy after using it.

My original Buttercup died on me and I tried some Revlon hair dryer. The Revlon hair dryer turned my hair into a frizz fest anytime I used it. The Buttercup keeps my hair smooth without having to use anti-frizz products. This is truly the best hair dryer I’ve ever used. I’ll never use another hair dryer.

This is the most perfect blow dryer I have ever used. I also purchased Dry Bar’s diffuser which is almost a perfect fit. I am able to diffuse my hair at a medium heat and speed with this blow dryer and I alsways get wonderful results.

I purchased this hair dryer recently to replace a dryer I purchased off Amazon many years ago. I liked that dryer and it was well made but the cord broke and I had to replace it. I attempted to find a similar hair dryer to the old one but I couldn’t find that dryer anymore. So I stumbled upon the Drybar Buttercup dryer and I have to say, I love, love, love it. It’s lightweight, quiet and the cord is superior to the typical hair drying cords. This cord is long, flexible and lightweight just like the hair dryer is.
I have been using the dryer on low speed setting and low heat. The air is comfortably warm and I don’t feel as though my hair is being damaged and the low speed does enough to dry but doesn’t send my hair in all directions. I am really impressed with this hair dryer.
Would recommend this dryer to anyone who is in the market for a new one.

This is a great blow dryer. I use a dryer every day on my hair. This one is fantastic a little heavy, but makes it easier when styling. It’s also quieter than I’m used to doesn’t bother my dog as much.

First impression: The chemical smell is strong. Not sure if it’s the plastic or the “technology” coating but it’s a very strong PVC/BPA plastic smell. Dryer works ok. I haven’t had time to really use it properly. The blowing power is maybe a 3/5 compared to my BaByliss, doesn’t get too hot, and it’s not very loud. I’ll keep using it for now.

Purchased on May 26 and on July 28 I went to use it and it has a rattle noise!! Product is not damage on the outside and in perfect condition. So, I do not know how such an expensive product will be broken in a short period of used! I will try to get my money refunded! Not very happy about this!!!!!
