I’ve been using this several times daily for the past few weeks due to being on oxygen. So far it seems durable as I’ve dropped it a few times (no more than 2 ft) and still keeps working. I have checked this against my doctors oximeter and is accurate which I was a little worried about due to the low price.
I only have 2 complaints. First it is slow to read part of the time, it can up to 2 mins to show a reading. Second it does have problems getting a reading if I am moving around to the extent I at times have had to stop moving to be able to get a reading. (This is why I only gave it 4 stars)
Not really a complaint but it also takes a few seconds to get an accurate reading after it’s initial reading (with me the oxsat will read high the suddenly drop to the correct reading). To be fair my doctors does the same exact thing so I’m assuming all do.
As far as the accessories go the pouch seems sturdy although I really have yet to test it. The lanyard does work and at times can be convenient, although at most times gets in the way. The lanyard also seems a bit weak and I would worry could break, I actually just throw it in my pocket or a backpack which works just fine.

I am in the medical field. I compared the FL-400 LED pulse oximeter to a medical grade Datascope Passport 2 monitor with Masimo pulse oximeter (top of the line). The FL-400 was able to acquire a signal a second sooner. The readings were very close and I would trust it for medical use. The pulse rate was 2 bpm faster and the pulse oximeter was 1% lower. I would feel comfortable using this in patient care. Build quality is very good. Good entry level unit.

Couple of suggestions to make it work properly is to make sure the finger is seated in the groove all the way in. This may be a problem if you have long fingernails. Keep movement to a minimum. This is because the unit can get confused with movement with pulsations in the capillaries. This happens in ALL pulse oximeters, but super expensive medical grade monitors can compensate for this to a small degree. So do not expect to use this while running or exercising and expect it or any pulse oximeter to work. Also, if you have blue nail polish on your fingernails, itwill not work. Blue absorbs red and infrared which all pulse oximeters use.

I do prefer the beeping pulse rate option and the ability to change screen orientation with the button that is present on the FL-100 (color OLED unit). As far as accuracy, it is spot on as long as the above is followed.

I extensively used this during COVID times. It is good sturdy and easy to use. However, it is not for old people to read as it gets confusing to read the digits. One get confused on which side to read from like 6 or 9.

With these types of devices, the most important feature is it’s ability to accurately read a pulse and o2 saturation. This pulse oximeter fits the bill!

And the fact that it’s so darn inexpensive — you just can’t beat it. I’ve done my comparisons and there really is no difference between this model and a more expensive brand.

You’ll have trouble getting a reading when fingers are cold. Just warm up fingers and try again.

You’ll watch the pulse rate jump up and down if you’re somebody that suffers from Atrial Fibrilation. But that’s to be expected …

I’ve bought this pulse oximeter many times… for myself, coworkers, eager patients, and family. And I’ll buy it again when mine finally gives out!

I bought this pulse-oximeter after seeing articles about how some victims of COVID-19 can present with significantly diminished oxygen saturation of the blood while still feeling relatively OK, which is an effect that seems to be peculiar to COVID-19. The suggestion was that it might be preferable to begin to treat virus-positive people when their oxygen saturation dips below 90%, rather than wait until it crashes vastly lower, which apparently frequently happens, and which at that point is a crisis situation that may be difficult to reverse. Should the worst happen, and I become infected and began to experience symptoms at home, this device will provide useful data to share by email with my PCP as he considers what to recommend.

The device worked right out of the box. The only negative I have to report is that the cover seemed scuffed and scratched (see first photo) as though this was not a brand new item. However, it turns out that the marks are on a removable film, and once that was taken off, the device seemed pristine. It is kind of annoying that the film, and the need to remove it, doesn’t seem to be anywhere in the product materials.

I installed the batteries according to the standard “+/-” labeling. I pushed the “on” button and the lights went on. I put my index finger into the device, waited a few seconds for it to calibrate, and bang – there was my pulse (65) and my oxygen saturation (97), just like that. Over the following several days, I’ve checked several times a day, and my pulse is ranging from the mid sixties to the mid eighties, which is pretty consistent with the values measured when I go to the doctor. My oxygen saturation levels range from 94 to 99%. Technically I did not feel I could give a rating for “accuracy” for this product, since I don’t have an independent way of checking its values, but obviously I am getting readings consistent with a healthy person, so it seems reasonably accurate.

Some reviewers have raised the issue that, when the hand and fingers are extended in the standard manner for taking a pulse-oximeter reading, the values are presented in such a way as to be upside down to the person being tested (see middle photo, hand with outstretched fingers). And, in fact, some competing devices do seem to have the ability to “flip” the values for easier reading. However, I didn’t really have a great deal of difficulty in flipping the values in my head. In addition, I discovered that my wrist is flexible enough that I can turn my hand and bend my index finger and read the values “right side up” (see third photo). While one might be concerned that this maneuver might constrict blood vessels and compromise the reading, I found that the reading was exactly the same either way, as shown, and was stable if I kept my hand in this position. So I really don’t see that this orientation issue should be a big factor in deciding whether to buy this item.

In spite of slight misgivings about the “upside-down” issue and some reports of the device not working on arrival, I took a chance on this particular manufacturer because there were many reviews, stretching back to pre-COVID days, and that made me comfortable. The company seems to be implying, without saying it directly, that at least some reports of the device not working might be ascribed to improper insertion of the batteries. In addition, as described above, I don’t see the “upside down” orientation of the data to be a significant issue. I’m glad I took a chance. The device worked immediately, and it has continued to work over the last week.
