i thought this would be a winner with my girl, however, after only a few chomps she lost interest.
She is a heavy chewer, and generally goes through things quickly. i’m not sure what it was about this item that made her not like it.. (maybe the plastic was TOO hard?) but she’s not a fan. 🙁

Our Bernese is an agressive chewer, so we thought this would be a good toy. The middle material of the fish is fine, but the head and tail are made with an extremely hard substance ( almost like a stone material). He had it for 10 minutes and it cut his gums up and it left groove marks in those parts of the toy that leave very sharp edges. Terrible purchase, and it was expensive! I just can’t be bothered to try to return for a refund. If he was not watched, I’d mostly likely be at the vet with my dog for having a broken tooth or atleast bleeding gums.

I have a blue heeler, and she is a very aggressive chewer. She ruins every toy I get her even when the tag says it’s for “aggressive chewers.” Also, I have purchased several toys that she just doesn’t even care for. This one, however, not only does she love it, but it’s standing up to her chewing! Very happy with it. Just be aware, it does squeak and it’s rather heavy so when she’s throwing it around it can get kind of loud (mostly if you have floors that are not carpeted). But I’m willing to put up with that because she loves it so much.

This toy is solid and tough. My dog destroys toys in hours and this shark was still going strong after a week so I bought a second one. Now she has one inside and one outside and she loves them both and plays with them every day. She’s had it over two weeks now and it gets lots of abuse and still going strong.

I have an aggressive chewer who thoroughly enjoys destroying toys as soon as he receives them so I had to hunt for things that he’d like but couldn’t immediately “kill”.
This having both a squeaker and being resistant to chewing has been a winner. He did end the squeaker within a week or two but considering he ended a fabric Kong that was for hard chewers, that’s pretty darn good.
The main downside about this are that it is really hard so when it bounces off things (walls, me) it can scratch things. It has a similar texture to nylabone so it gets a bit sharp with chewing. It is also heck on your feet if you step on it in the middle of the night…think Lego kind of pain.
Otherwise, would buy again – probably will some day when this one is finally done. I’d say it was definitely worth the price.

One of the most durable toys for a destroyer dog, but the plastic head and tail shreds into a “barbed” state after repeated use, and the plastic parts are rather heavy.. I actually took a grinder and smoothed the head and tail out again, but they are barbed again after just a week of our dog gnawing on it. Would love if it were just all rubber, like the middle portion, which amazing shows no significant damage. Would advise against this toy if you have a dog that likes to destroy toys, AND small children, as they can be hurt when the barbs appear on the plastic portions.

Officer K9 Boyer received this yesterday and he loves it. It is not all rubber, there is extremely hard plastic like material on the head and tail but the middle is the soft rubbery material. He is an extremely aggressive chewer, he is a Belgian Malinois, and typically toys that are not from Barkbox do not make it more than a hour with him. This one is still squeaking and still together after 13 hours. I will update once the shark has stopped squeaking to give a timeline. I will also take a photo then. There wasn’t any way of taking a picture prior to this post as he did not want to give it up.

I have a hard-core chewer, she is just a year old. We’ve lost a lot of shoes and miscellaneous items, including CDs, plastic containers, toys you name it.
I bought these along with another brand that came as a two pack, and they have saved our lives in our house. As long as we make certain our pup, Ryder, has one of these in her possession. The rest of the house has been saved from her teeth.
Ryder is a Lab/Malinois x and she has a constant need to chew something. This particular version of the chew toys we love has a squeaker in the middle, but it’s really hard for them to bite it hard enough to make it squeak. And it’s built so that they can’t get the squeaker out of it! Ryder gets excited when she gets it just right and she can make it squeak, squeak squeak, but it’s not a loud or obnoxious squeak that you get tired of hearing and it’s so difficult to do, She can’t do it for very long.
I will definitely purchase more of these to have as back up but in the month that she’s had them, they still look relatively good. I mean, you can see where she scuffed them up pretty good but they are very much intact. I suspect they could last six months to a year, Before they would need to be replaced. Even longer perhaps.
If she leaves them out in the yard, they’re not harmed by the weather, the only drawback to this toy, is it’s nice and hefty and she likes to bring it to you and surprise you while you’re doing something barefoot and drop it on your foot. Just to let you know how grateful she is to have it. But it’s extremely painful when dropped on bare feet.
If you get out of bed and kick one in the night, you’ll remember it for a while. But I will tell you this chew toy is amazing, well designed, and has kept our dog from destroying more shoes and household items.
We have another dog it’s not interested in them at all, but he is not a hard-core chewer and does not like to chew anything plastic. He only likes to chew up paper like bills or documents. Papers You need to keep for something important. So Ryder is the only one of our dogs that uses these, but she loves them and they’ve been a lifesaver. If you have a hard-core chewer, I highly recommend them.
