It looks exactly as pictured, so far as colour and material goes. The front and back rims stay up, however the middle part sags, unlike the photo. I had to put treats and catnip inside to teach the cat to go inside. He was not used to this type of bed. Now he really likes it. Unlike some other reviewer’s cats, he has never shown any interest in sitting/sleeping on top of it. I haven’t washed it yet, so cannot say how it will hold up. The inner faux fur is super soft, the outside material feels very durable. I love the colour (sage).

I may have made a mistake buying this bed. I put my dog in it and she won’t come out. It is SO warm and cozy. I put her in it the second day then went out for a couple of hours. She did not see me to the door as she usually does nor would she come out when I got home. She likes this bed better than her mama! When I tried to pull her to the front to snap a pic, she growled at me. We’ve had it about 4 days and she’s only gotten in it herself once. She loves to lay on top of it. But when I put her inside, she stays for hours. My house is cold and this bed keeps her toasty warm. Best bed I’ve ever gotten for her. The sage green color is perfect with my decor.
Update: After having this bed for six weeks, my dog is absolutely in love! She quickly learned how to climb into the front of the bed then burrow into the back. She stays in this bed whenever I go out and often when I’m at home. Comfy, cozy bed well worth the money. Highly recommend. Please choose the “Yes” button below if this review was helpful.

I actually bought two different Armarkat beds for my 6 lb cat – this one and the sage green cave. At first she only went into the cave bed… loved it! Then the weather cooled down and she found her way into this one… which I call her “sleeping bag”. She goes all the way to the back and it keeps her warm. At night I cover it with an additional blanket – extending the blanket in the front such that it adds a few inches more depth to the overall length. I don’t know if she needs it, but it makes me feel more assured that she’ll stay warm through the night. Seems she does, because she sleep through the night… that is, she doesn’t come looking for me until around 6 am or when she sees my light go on. And did I mention that it stays open! Very well made… I love Armarkat beds!

It is soft and fuzzy on the inside, but it collapses in the middle. There is no way to make this item self-supporting. I have tried everything to get her interested, but she won’t go near it. It is well made but the unsupported length of it makes it look as though someone has stepped on it

Very plush and looks well made. Rating only 4 stars due to the “sack’s” opening not staying open as other reviewers have stated. My 12 lb chihuahua loves, loves, loves this bed. However she was not eager to get into it at first–I sort of nudged her in a couple of times and she came right back out. Hmmm, I was sure she would crawl right into it–she is such a burrower. I decided if she wasn’t going to use it I would, as a foot warmer while relaxing on the couch. Well, I had my feet in it and my chihuahua’s curiosity was piqued. She started nosing in and before I knew it, she was curled up inside and I had to pull my feet out! She is sometimes able to burrow in unassisted, but most of the time I just hold up the opening and she rushes right in. Mind you, this is not her everyday bed; I keep it on the couch and it is easy for me to hold it open for her when she wants to hang out with us. Don’t think I would recommend this as a pet’s main bed, but I would order again for my same purpose.

It takes some effort, but the “sock” type cat bed is a unique product that can keep your pets much warmer than any other type I’ve found, and can be compacted down to a tiny size for storage. It can also be positioned in areas where others would not fit. A lot like a sleeping bag for your pets. (I do *hate it* when Amazon combines several entirely different products into a single listing.)
If you need it to stay open, a single spray coating of
Scotchgard
or other laundry starch does a pretty good job. This makes it fairly stiff and *nearly* solid, with just a small dip in the middle you can manage with proper positioning, but holding it open pretty well. That also happens to make it very water resistant.
After that, it’s just a matter of teaching/enticing your pet to use this strange new object… My preferred method is to periodically throw a pinch of bacon bits into it. The first few times, my cat picked out the treats and immediately left. But in time that changes, and it becomes a familiar nap spot (the colder the indoor temperature, the better).
It certainly stays much warmer than an open top cat bed, or a rigid house. It should be ideal for young kittens that are (even in summer) fighting to keep warm, and always at risk of hypothermia and pneumonia. It’s a much better alternative to a pile of rags.
I wish it was a bit bigger, making it easier for a large cat to get in and out, and turn all the way around in it, or perhaps making room for two cats. It tends to slowly roll one way or another as your pet climbs in off-center and/or lays against the sides.
After having it setup for a year, my cat still prefers to climb on top of it, making it no more useful than an old sweater. Bigger and staying open seems to be a popular cat preference, and the soft pet crate with sheepskin pad (which I purchased as a carrier for vet trips) is actually a much bigger hit as a nap spot than this sock-bed ever was:

I second the emotion of another Chihuahua owner’s review. (Thank you for the advice) Chi nesting problems? Don’t panic, get this “Chi Sack” NOW! It’s cleverly disguised as a cat bed so your little heat bomb nesting snuggle dictator will be even more attracted to it. It’s the perfect size for curling up in a ball and does the trick for the mid-morning full stretch too! It has only been a week but the whole family is sleeping through the night. Dare I say this may have solved the 4 A.M. potty break? It’s very plushy soft inside and suede-like on the outside with no slippery outer bottom so it’s perfect for staying put at the foot of the bed. (ok, ok it’s still right in the middle of the bed but we’re working on it…) It also holds a little shape at the opening to assure Chi’s folks that oxygen is in fact getting in despite the knowledge Chi has snuggle gills and apparently doesn’t need air to live. I suspect as the weather gets colder tossing Sack and Chi in the car in a pinch will delight baby and Mom both. This is as much therapeutic for your adorable little love as for you. Thumbs up!
