I bought this gravel for a more unconventional use. Given that the cat litter pellets sold to collect cat urine in order for it to be examined by a vet, is too pricey for the intended use. I thought of fish tank gravel and bought it. Well, my cat never used it and I gave up, but this item is neat. I don’t have fish, but the glow-in-the-dark element is pretty fun.

So I’m a beginner fish tank owner so I needed something to just scatter over the existing rocks I already had! Saw the reviews and knew I had to have these! To start,ease of assembly is simple,open the bag,sprinkle across the bottom of the tank BUT I advise to go ahead and do a couple rinses of the rocks in a strainer since It could be dusty. Quality feels nice and color looks just like the photos but even better. They also seem to produce “bubbles” on the top of them! Highly recommend

These rocks are beautiful in color, nice size and really bring some variance to the tank. We used them in our fresh 12 gal nano. We purchased two bags but probably could have gotten away with one. We had priced them in the store and they were cheaper on Amazon. They are a great value, and seem to be keeping their color well. As always, rinse anything off before placing it in your tank. As expected there was some rock dust with the first rinse.

All the times I’ve had aquariums through the decades, I’d never even considered black gravel but I am loving it!! Guppy approved, cat approved too 🙂
I don’t have any “glow” from it, only have non-neon tanks but not an issue.
Others talked about the amount of mess on it but I’ve found it EXCELLENT! I put portions into a sieve over the sink and it seemed VERY clean to start with, no problems afterwards either. My new favorite!

I bought two bags of these for my new aquarium, and read that the instructions stated to rinse each bag out over a bucket until the water comes out clean before adding to the aquarium. One bag came out perfect after just a few washes with a colander, barely any crushed or tiny gravel particles. However the other bag had a shocking amount of the crushed bits of gravel, I must’ve rinsed it 20x times and there was still even tiny particles of gravel that stuck to my fingers if I handled it. I just got tired of rinsing it out and added it to the aquarium since I don’t really care, but it was still annoying that there was so many particles of gravel. However it looks great in my aquarium with LED lights and my fish likes it I hope!

These glow rocks were pretty simple to use wash rinse and place in the tank. I like that the black rocks give a nice color contrast to the brighter rocks that I have in the tank. They are large enough that the fish don’t attempt to eat them, although there are small gravel pieces. The black color is definitely darker. Very lightweight. I think it gives the tank a nice pop of color and a contrast it look.
These are a bit expensive as I have a 75 gallon tank and it would have taken 75 (1 pound one LBS per gallon )of rock if I followed the recommendation which I did not.
